How loud is a nursing home housekeeping job?

This is kind of a weird ask.

Basically I have an interview tomorrow at a nursing home as a housekeeper. It'd be slightly above minimum wage, is a short commute, and would be a change of pace after years of working retail. I think I'm a good fit but it could be very tricky.

I have Hyperacusis. This is different from Misophonia or mere sound sensitivity. Basically, loud noises (sudden or prolonged) can cause me literal pain. Usually sharp or burning pain in my ears or nerve pain in my face. Because of my condition I avoid bars, clubs, and other loud venues. I also don't listen to radio in the car. Literally everytime I leave my house I'm wearing some form of hearing protection.

Hyperacusis is a very individual condition. Some people have it so severly that they're unable to talk. I'm very lucky to be in a mostly manageble place with it but I'm still limited. I've been able to tolerate (limited) exposure to vaccums and floor buffers at my current job but I'm concerned about noise levels at the nursing home. Alarms, equipment, distressed residents with dementia, etc. But I also think the work would meaningful and I truly need the money. I don't plan on disclosing my condition because it has cost me professional oppurtunities in the past.

On average, how loud is a nursing home gig? Should I look elsewhere?

Always thought it was weird that no one was stabbed with the phurba in Among Theives

So this is very minor and doesn't really matter but I was replaying Among Theives recently and even after beating it for the first time on the PS3 I thought that a golden ritual dagger seemed like an obvious way to kill the bad guy. It's literally a dagger, Lazarevic goes through all sorts of trouble to get it. It would've been ironic for Nate to stab him with it out of desperation while being chocked or something idk. I was waiting for this to end up between someone's ribs and it never happend.

I was also sure that Nate was gonna save Elena via sap from the tree of life but that's a different post.

What's the longest you've been on a library wait list for a book?

I've been waiting for three weeks for a copy of The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch. There's only two copies in the system and both are checked out. This is probably the longest I've ever had to wait for a book that wasn't new and/or had a long line of people ahead of me.

It is what it is. I'm not the only reader in the world. But I do wonder what is taking so long. Are they reading the book or are they making love to it? On the up side, I have time to work through my graphic novel backlog.

What's the longest you've ever waited for your turn with a library book?

Grown man here without a car who hates the bus and is sick of uber. Because of space limitations, a foldable bike seems like the best choice for me.

Is it easy to ride for a total newbie? I never learned as a kid.

The hardcover omnis are oop but DC has put out two paperbacks omnis (American Vampire Book One and Two) with a third on the way, that should collect the original series in full.

Does anyone have experience with these? How do they look? I'm tempted but I bought the paperback Fatale omni and, while I love it, I was a bit put off by the gutter loss.

I have bilaterial muscular TMJ, which is worse on my right side. It's worsened my prexisting ETD, and I may have sleep apnea aswell.

I have a history of hyperacusis prior to my current issues, though I've more or less been in remission from 2024 to maybe mid March of this year. I say "maybe" because I just don't know what's happening to me.

I'm expericing nerve pain in my face that's consistent with my hyperacusis, but I know TMJ can cause nerve pain aswell. It comes and goes, sometimes last for hours, usually at 3-4 out of 10. (So noticeble, not horrible, but enough to cause me anxiety.) I also notice that my ETD is worse on my left ear (though again my TMJ is worse on my right side) and my startle reflex on my left side has been hightend significantly. I can feel my left ear clench to certain noises, and at times I find myself involuntarily flinching from noise. This has gotten better over time but is still very noticible. Even when my hyperacusis was such that I was unable to work, I don't remember my startle reflex being this bad.

I'm going to pursue physical therapy as soon as I am able but I'm wondering if anyone else has experinced something like this? Is there any hope? I hate this shit.

I've been dealing with TMJ since november (though I've had a harmless click since middle school.) It was bad at first but then I was in a good place for a bit, and now I'm in a bad place again because of probable sleep apnea.

I'm better than most people on here. I have full range of motion and no locking (atleast not yet) and I overall have fewer symptoms than most posters here but I constantly worry about my TMJ becoming severe. My main issue is neuralgia pain in my face and scalp. Per a CT scan from an oral surgeon my joints are fine so it's probably a muscular issue but sometimes the clicking hurts and my jaw slides slightly to one side when I open it wide enough.

I feel like if it's totally muscular than I can beat this but if the joint itself is damaged then I'm totally fucked and I'll have to deal with this for the rest of my life. I'm always scared that my jaw will lock at some point during the day. This whole thing is killing me mentally.

I plan to start physical therapy within the next couple months to work on my posture but idk I just feel like shit. I'm only 27 and this feels like an anvil over my head. I'm sick of this stupid fucking soft diet and I don't want to be on it for the rest of my life. I've been on it since december and I hate it.

If my joint is damaged am I fucked? Could I still get better?

Frank leads a pretty dangerous life, obviously. If he ever caught a bullet to the spine or suffered some other injury that left him disabled, making punishing the guilty in his traditional way more difficult or impossible, what would he do?
