Weird Engineering Admission Question? (Project Portfolio)

Im looking to apply for mechanical engineering.

Im not wondering how this will affect my chances, just if it was something I can do and how to do it.

I’m working on a passion project that I plan to complete before early application in November, it’s kinda like an off-road fsae car, called a Crosskart, anyways… I was wondering if there is a way to submit some kind of a portfolio or something as a way to showcase the project when it is done. Or is it something I would have to just put somewhere briefly in my application. Would I send it as an email to the admissions department? Or nothing at all? Thanks.

I Find Pride Month Kinda Gross

I believe everyone has the right to have whatever (legal) sexual preference they want, but I do find pride month kinda gross. I mean it’s a month celebrating people talking about f’ing pretty much. Like you can talk all you want about “love” and stuff, but really it’s about sex. I don’t care too much that it’s gay, although it is kinda weird for me, but it’s really the over-sexualization of modern society that makes me mad. I mean OF and all that is so insanely popular, and it’s also so immoral. Idk that’s my hot take.

Figuring out my moral/political compass, realized I’m pro-life

I’ve never been too interested in being very political because the current very partisan culture is tiring for my brain, but… I think I used to think pro choice was fine cause I’m a dude and “it’s not my choice” or whatever, but after I thought about it I realized how super messed up it is to abort. I get it sometimes might happen for medical reasons, but in all other cases I just can’t justify it.

They can argue all they want that it’s not a person yet, but I just can’t grasp that level of zero empathy. I mean if it’s just an early stage of a kid, you could say offing a kid is fine because “they’re not a teen yet” or whatever. Like see what I mean it makes no sense.

Idk, just thought I would share since I kind of realized how profound doing something like that is.

Just a thought as I’m writing this, I mean isn’t kinda unconstitutional too or am I naive? I’m taking a government class for school and you know how you can’t take “life or liberty”, I mean I don’t see how you could say an unborn is somehow not life.

That’s all, I figured I’d share with people who won’t call me slurs for having an opinion 🤷‍♂️

Unexpected Score!!

Thought I got like a 29 or something, big surprise when I logged in finally!

Do y’all think this is a good score for Purdue engineering? Ik math is lowest but I figure it isn’t a big deal.

SEAT QUESTION

Using this seat for an off road buggy, I know it’s not ideal but I got it for a killer deal and I’m on a budget. The hip width is pretty good, but the rib bolstering (highlighted in yellow) feels like it is digging into my arms pretty good. I know it’s not in the buggy yet so it’s not final wheel location, but I don’t see it changing much.

Is this seat simply not going to work, or is this normal for this style seat? Any remedy like adding padding over the aluminum frame?

Thanks!

Why isn’t it feeding? It does like short steps feeding then clicks some kind of gear thing, and then reaches a point and does the click thing a bunch and then unfeeds it?! It also seems like the motor is spinning slow/strugging.

Just a general question, for a car that could easily fit a sbc (jeep xj) how much would a reliable swap cost (mainly just engine and trans and other notable expenses) for a handy person who could do the work themselves and fabricate the necessary things like engine mounts and body modifications.

Nothing crazy; As far as power, just a NA 350 or something, maybe around 300-350hp and a manual transmission. I’m assuming that would require pistons rods heads cam and exhaust right, would a crank be necessary?

I know it’s not easy to predict the build cost but just a rough estimate for building the motor and sourcing a trans if the work was all done myself.

Thanks a lot in advance

I keep getting stuck in the cycle of

  1. Addicted for a while and creating a collection

  2. Getting fed up with my self, starting to go a day or two without relapsing, but then relapsing bad

  3. Breaking point, deleting collection

  4. Falling back into the trap

  5. Repeat

I haven’t made it past 3 days in like 4 years or something. It’s mainly Reddit, and I delete the app, but sometimes I need it for hobby/research stuff and it’s also really fucking easy to just redownload it. How do i break this cycle?
