first floor dwellers ... windows?

i've been living alone about a year and resigned my lease for another 13 months, and i'm curious. if you live on the first floor, especially if you're a woman or appear to be one, are you comfortable leaving your windows open at night? personally i am as there's a sharp fence separating my window from the sidewalk and street, and i also live in a very safe area in a very safe town in a very safe state haha. i've never had any issues, but sometimes the worry gets to me.

first refurb complete!

finally replaced the fluid in this target lamp and SUPER happy with it! it came to me super gross and foggy and i knewwww i wanted to replace it since the day i opened the box. finally got around to it months later! i messed up the measurements of the oneshot a bit and was worried it wouldnt come out good, but it didddd.

next up is my gifted glitter lamps ... ive got a northern lights schylling in super good shape that im contemplating stripping and/or painting the base on that also needs a new bulb, and some mystery glitter lamp missing a cap that i'd like to track down that *also* needs a new bulb, lol! super excited to continue messing with lava lamps.

cheek piercings ...

what's the *actual* risk of tooth/gum damage with these piercings? provided you downsize at the right times and and up with nicely nesting flatbacks. i'm terrified of messing up my teeth (genetics mostly) and i don't really want to raise the chance all that much ... but cheek piercings are my #1 dreamies. so, folks who've had them forever and ever -- how often do they come in contact with your teeth once fully downsized? have you had problems?

hi! posting again. i'm looking around for enclosures, and i like the idea of a front opening one. i've got my eye on one that's 36"L x 18"D ... and 36"H. this bad boy. it's got a mesh top but is otherwise acrylic on all sides. the doors are about 7" up, and yeah, i know 6" is the minimum, but i'd want more bedding, so i'd probably do some weird layering or fit a panel to make the front bit tall enough for closer to 10"-12" of bedding.

i know mice really like to climb, so the idea of a super tall tank full to the brim like a jungle gym is a lot of fun... but i worry about ventilation and the stress of the inhabitants. i'd clutter it like crazy obviously, but it'd still be difficult to pack it as full as a more standard 40 gal breeder with all the extra height.

has anyone had any success with a tall front-opening enclosure like this? is this worth considering?

(not a first time owner, but it's been about half a decade since i've had mice, and i want to make sure whatever i do is above and beyond the current standards. i do not mess around with my pet care lol! also re: my last post i am replacing that dresser, do not even worry)

update: it's completely fine!

turned her back on the other day and did some quick tests, and everything is fully functional and as it was! so relieved. will continue to keep an eye on it and be cautious, but so far, everything seems alright! thank god LOL

saw this for the first time a couple weeks ago and my god. it's tempting me. if it's still there in another week i may see if i can haggle down to $100 ..... need another century in my collection but $150 a tough pill to swallow for such a common breed of century when i'd wanna replace the fluid at bare minimum and probably do some work on the wax too 😩 but fb marketplace vintage lava lamp sellers in my area are soooo difficult. there was another century in far worse shape for twice this listed for months before the guy finally took it down, duped someone into buying it, or gave up and lowered the price enough for it to sell.

hi! i haven't owned mice in over 5 years and i miss it terribly. i'm considering getting back into it and picking up an intact boy or a handful of females, depending on my budget and how im feeling if/when the time comes.

however. i have a cat, and he has free reign throughout my apartment. what i'm considering is getting rid of this TV and getting the biggest tank i can fit on top of this tall dresser (so no space on the sides for him to jump up on). he's never bothered with this dresser before and he really isn't a climber to begin with aside from his two trees.

so my question is, would this be safe for the mice? i know best practice for their enclosures, he wouldn't ever be able to *get in* to their tank, but i of course wouldn't want them stressed seeing him wander around on the floor or in the rest of the room (pov is from my bed, which he hangs out on often).

i had a cat when i had my last mice, 4 girls, but he was not allowed in my bedroom unsupervised and rarely chose to come in even when he was allowed, so i haven't really had to think this problem through before.

my cat not being allowed in my room is not an option, as the only place his box can go is my closet + my room and that closet are about half the square footage of the unit and i'd feel terrible taking that away from him. if this is not safe for the mice, i simply will not get mice until i'm in a 2 bed or another scenario where they will be more comfortable.

redid my living room walls ...

picked up a handful of beautiful artwork from my dad's place that belonged to my late mother, who had damn good taste. took down my messy old gallery wall and redid it, and switched around my tv wall a little bit too. how're we feeling? any suggestions? i'm planning on hanging white christmas lights around the room eventually, these ceilings are just stupid tall and i'm tiny and hate the step ladder lol!

hi,

i feel like i'm kind of going backwards. i discovered my system in 2018 around age 15. barriers initially were pretty low and everyone felt distinct and unique and was easily identified. blah blah blah. a lot more trauma. an assault the same month i discovered my system. moved out. mom died. my first manic episode (bipolar 1), and a very bad one. left the state. came back. a 5 year period of serious housing insecurity where every place i stayed was distinctly temporary and was not my home. a period where i was nearly put onto the streets. several nasty relationships. so on and so forth. dissociating through the past half a decade, moving about in a fog.

and now i'm here. and nothing feels the same. hardly anyone who was around then still is. i can't really identify switches or different fronters anymore unless they're (we're?) drastically different than the host/me/idk. it's weird. i'm nowhere near as aware as i(?) once was. i don't really have the energy to pay as much attention to my state as i maybe used to.

my therapist suggested mapping. we're going to start next monday. so i wanted to ask if anyone has any advice for regaining that awareness and identifying who's who and who's fronting better.

thanks! sorry for the oversharing, it's late and i'm exhausted in a lot of ways.
