Having owned and heard the entire discography of officially live recordings and listening to those live bootlegs especially from 1974-1981 it seems the official releases kinda of sanitizes and tones down how wild it could get at a Pink Floyd gig at the peak of their powers. As choreographed as ‘The Wall’ shows were those raw bootlegs show those shows still had that air of unpredictability that was common for that era from both band and audience. Honestly from those audience recordings it’s heartwarming to hear those enthusiastic cheers from an audience that actually had their minds blown in real time that is lost on the official live recordings. I also just love hearing those random Roger rants during those shows and not giving a fuck about what anyone thinks. Anyways just my observations going through the bootlegs.

AHHHH! Are there any paranoids on the sub tonight? Is there anybody here who worries about things?
Pathetic! This is all for the weak people on the sub! Is there anyone here who is weak?! This is for you it’s called ‘Run Like Hell.’ Let’s all have a clap! Come on we can’t hear you! Get your hands together! Have a good time! Enjoy yourselves! That’s better! *STONE SCREAMS*
I mean he would have so much material to work with lol. I think among the joke threads here awhile back somebody mentioned ‘Christine Sixty’ which would make a great Weird Al song.
I’ve been through some of the past threads here so I am aware of the memes and jokes about their 90s songs but people forget they had bangers even during that era. Songs like ‘Be Quick or Be Dead’ or ‘Afraid to shoot strangers’ that seemed to be long forgotten for decades now. The 90s wasn’t all about ‘The Angel and The gambler’ or ‘Bring your daughter to the slaughter.’
As a massive New Order fan and being American and also that scene was before my time I am always fascinated about the club’s legendary status. I read most of the accounts from both the band and Tony Wilson’s perspective but what was it really like in reality for those lucky enough to have visited the club?
Loved seeing and reading about the great stories of many amazing U2 gigs. Concerning the future and I tread cautiously because several years ago I got downvoted into oblivion on this sub, years before u/mancapturescolour started modding on this sub. Honestly I think for the next tour they should get a K-pop group to open for. Like Hunter/x from K-pop Demon Hunters or just another group like aespa or Le Sserafim. Coldplay did it with TWICE on their recent Asian leg so I figured U2 could easily do more than them in that arena.
How was the tour with Killing Joke? And the fans that carried on how was the co headline tour with Echo and and the bunnymen and gene loves jezebel. And of course how was that final performance at reading 1993?
As one of the GOATS they have had many opening acts that are massive themselves. So what was your favorite opening act?
There have been many opening acts that became legends themselves later on. What was your favorite opening act?
Seeing they got acts from Belfegore to the Velvet Underground, Public Enemy to the Sugarcubes, and RATM to the Black Eyed Peas just wondering what was your favorite opening act. Also did you ever see U2 as an opening act?
