Ancient Social Gatherings: The Canopus at Hadrian’s Villa, Tivoli

A long, elegant colonnaded pool with statues and Egyptian-inspired elements:

one of Hadrian’s favorite spots for hosting guests, philosophical discussions, and leisurely social gatherings.

I’m exhausted from being the “strong one” all the time

Everyone comes to me with their problems, and I’m always the one holding it together. But I’m tired. I want to fall apart too sometimes.

Has anyone else felt like they’re not allowed to be the one who needs support?

Does it ever feel like everyone else has a life and you’re just watching from the sidelines?

I see people making plans, posting about their weekends, talking about their friends… and I’m just here.

Existing. Not really part of anything.

Has anyone else felt like they’re watching life happen instead of living it?

What does that feel like for you?

What’s the hardest part about trying to make friends as an adult?

It feels so much harder now than when we were kids. Everyone already has their circles, and putting yourself out there feels awkward and exhausting.

What’s been the toughest part for you?

And has anything actually worked?

Does anyone else feel invisible even when they’re surrounded by people?

I can be in a room full of people and still feel completely alone. It’s like I’m there but not really there. Conversations happen around me, but I’m not part of them.

Has anyone else experienced this weird kind of loneliness?

What helps you feel a little less invisible?

Does anyone else feel guilty for not being “productive” at all times?

I know I should rest and everyone does obviously, but I still feel guilty for not doing enough.

It’s like my brain won’t let me slow down without punishing me for it.

Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, How do you handle it?

I’ve tried so many things: therapy, journaling, exercise, but sometimes nothing sticks. I’m curious what actually works for other people when they’re in a rough patch.

What’s one small (or big) thing that genuinely helps you when things feel heavy?
