When you explain IISER/NISER to relatives and they ask which engineering branch it is?

Yaar honestly itna frustrating hota hai jab main apne relatives ko IISER ke baare mein batata hoon aur woh turant poochte hain, oh accha! toh kaun si branch li tumne, CS li ya Mechanical? Bhai yeh engineering college hi nahi hai. IISER aur NISER pure science ke liye hain jahan Physics, Chemistry, Biology aur Maths ko depth mein padhate hain. Yahan ka goal machines ya software banana nahi hai, yahan ka goal yeh samajhna hai ki yeh duniya actually kaam kaise karti hai aur naye discoveries karna hai. Basically agar tumhe science pasand hai aur research mein interest hai toh IISER aur NISER tumhare liye hain. Engineering aur pure science dono alag alag paths hain, dono ka apna importance hai...

Do you ever feel like you’re studying but not improving?

Some days I study a lot, but when I try questions, it feels like nothing sticks. It’s honestly frustrating because the effort is there, but results don’t match. Does this happen with others too? How are you dealing with it?

Are long study hours actually necessary for IAT?

Hello guys, Here’s a lot of pressure to study 8-10+ hours daily, but I’m not sure if that’s always effective. Sometimes shorter, focused sessions feel more productive. What’s your take, is it about hours or quality when it comes to IAT prep?

IAT/NEST prep feels more lonely than JEE/NEET

At least with JEE/NEET, everyone around you knows what you’re doing. With IAT/NEST, half the people don’t even know these exams exist. Sometimes it feels like you’re preparing for something no one understands — friends, relatives, even teachers. Anyone else feel this isolation?

What kind of students actually fit in IISER/NISER?

Hello all, IISER/NISER is not for everyone and that is completely okay. These institutes are best suited for students who are genuinely curious about science and love understanding concepts deeply rather than just studying for marks and grades. If your main goal is a high paying job straight after graduation then IISER/NISER might feel frustrating as the focus here is heavily on research rather than placements. So honestly ask yourself, do you love science for the sake of science or just for the degree?

Any tips to strengthen challenging Maths concepts for IAT prep?

Hello Guys, Maths is one of the trickiest parts of IAT, especially topics like calculus, algebra and coordinate geometry. I understand the basics but struggle when questions get complicated in the actual exam. How did you guys deal with this? Any specific books, YouTube channels or daily habits that actually helped? Would love to hear from people who have already cracked IAT or are currently preparing!
