How do you guys actually switch off after a traumatic shift?

Had a nasty paediatric arrest last night and I can’t stop replaying the mother’s face in my head. I’ve tried the usual "go for a run" and "talk to a mate" but nothing is sticking. Is there a specific point where you just get desensitised or am I doing it wrong?

Is there any pattern to what providers approve, or does it feel completely random?

I’m doing a paramedicine degree and recently asked my provider for help covering a $200 clinical placement uniform. I was told it “wasn’t a priority”, which surprised me given it’s a required cost for my course. At the same time, I saw someone else in the waiting room get approved for a $500 work boots voucher for a job they hadn’t even started yet, which made me wonder how these decisions are actually being made. Has anyone here actually managed to get funding approved recently, and if so, what made the difference?

Has anyone else noticed how different metro vs rural shifts feel in terms of workload and vibe?

Metro seems constant and high pressure, while rural feels like it can swing between really quiet and suddenly full on. Has anyone else worked both and noticed the contrast, and which do you actually prefer long term?

Is it just me or is the radio terminology the hardest thing to get right?

I can intubate a mannequin in the dark but as soon as I have to press that PTT button I suddenly forget how to speak English. I find myself rehearsing a simple status update ten times in my head and I still manage to stutter or use the wrong code. It is like my brain just short circuits the moment I feel the click of the mic

Every time my internet drops out I run the line test in the My Telstra app and it says everything’s working perfectly while I’m sitting there staring at a red light on the router. Starting to feel like the app is more useful for marketing than actually fixing faults. Has anyone had it genuinely help with an issue before?

I had a job yesterday where the patient kept directing all his answers to my mentor even though I was the one doing the assessment and holding the tablet. It’s so frustrating when you’re trying to build rapport and you’re just being ignored

I am trying to order the new Hello Kitty air fresheners and the site keeps crashing or telling me it is in store only. Then I go to the store and they say it is online exclusive. It feels like the stock levels in the app have not been accurate for months. Is anyone else having this issue lately?
