What’s the most pointless activity a job provider has made you do?

I just spent two hours in a "digital literacy" seminar learning how to use a mouse and 'the Google,' despite having a literal degree in IT. My provider insisted it was a mandatory activation point..

Does AtWork (my job provider) need my payslips?

Does AtWork (my job provider) need my payslips? Apparently they need it to verify my work. I report my hours worked/and my pay to Centrelink every fortnight, I also report hours worked to workforce

I’ve been with this job provider for about 3 years now and I have been at my employer for about 10 years now

So is there anywhere I can find out if I must show them my payslips? Just feels a little odd

**as my original post is locked I need to add some more details**

I have never received anything from said job provider. No clothes, training, fuel or food vouchers, tickets etc. nothing at

I am also declaring all my income correctly and hours worked correctly (also it’s single touch payroll so I just need to make sure it’s all correct before I submit)

And also to add to someone’s comment “ (Yes I also can't understand if they have been with their employer for 10 years. Why they would need to register with this Job Provider 3 years ago.🤔)” bit of a rude question to ask really but I’ll answer - I had to reduce my full time hours down to part time hours due to a medical condition 3 years ago, which means my payment from my employer of 10 years significantly dropped, I am entitled to Centrelink so to be able to afford to live I need to top up with Centrelink payments. If I could work full time again I certainly would be and not have to rely on Centrelink payments 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Refusing reimbursements

My job provider said that they would only pay for up-skilling costs if I had a job offer to go to. Which is near on impossible....

So i paid for things myself, then managed to secure a job, and claimed a reimbursement through them.

The job finished, I up-skilled again at my own cost, found myself a job, then went to claim a reimbursement and was denied. Apparently, my cost was back in May25, and because I secured a job in Feb26, there was a change in Programs and they will no longer reimburse me.

This doesn't seem fair, as a cost is a cost, its the same job provider, and now they get the credit of me finding a job without them actually doing anything.

Is it worth making a complaint about, or am I just screwed?

JOB providers MOs and fuel

Hi everyone - I am a reporter with Guardian Australia. I often write about Centrelink and have chatted with some of you for other stories.

Do you have to use your car because there is no public transport in your area? Do you have to do mutual obligations right now? Would you feel comfortable chatting for a story? Please message me here or email: cait.kelly@theguardian.com

What happens if you miss a call from your provider by literally two minutes?

I’m terrified of getting my payments suspended because I was in the shower when they decided to do their random check-in call

A 65 yo woman is being pressured into volunteering

The woman feels she is being forced to accept voluntary work.

What do the rules say about whether the participant has a choice or not?

Could you please quote the relevant section of the deed or guidelines in your answer. Presumably, she is in Workforce?

Urgent activity still showing in Workforce

I’m attending some random course twice a week that my job provider has put me into. I attended today but it’s still showing as an “urgent activity” in workforce even though the trainer at the course has said that she did mark off my attendance. Will it just disappear later in workforce, or would it then show as not attended even though I was there and it was marked off as so?

Jobseeker training questions

im currently on JobSeeker through Centrelink and have been assigned Employability Skills Training it runs 4 days a week from 9am to 3:45pm.

i don’t currently have a job provider and im managed online. I was wondering Is there any way to opt out of EST if it’s already been assigned?

has anyone had success getting it changed or removed?

would having a job provider make any difference in being able to swap this for something else?

i quit my job of 5 years due to medical issues and im on the list (public) to have my surgery in the next year or two i also have a medical certificate stating i have this disease but it does state i can work 10 hours a week on my medical certificate.

i have a mri on the day that i have online training how am i suppose to now attend it if i have training? and the next day im booked to see a specialist..? will they cancel my payment? i’m not allowed to pick days from doing my training so i do not know what to do can anyone help me out as i’m not really sure how this all works.

Has anyone here switched providers without a proper reason?

I’m with a provider that just isn’t working for me at all. Nothing major on paper, just a bad fit and every appointment feels off. I want to switch but I keep hearing you need a “valid reason” or they make it difficult. Is there actually something you can say to get it done or is it just luck of who you speak to?

SA Job Providers. Who’s actually helpful? + Getting off self-managed?

I’m in South Australia and trying to get my head around the Workforce Australia system.

I’ve been on payments a few months now and recently realised I’ve been sitting in a self managed online setup this whole time. I did call early on to ask what my obligations were and was told that nothing was required at the time (i wasnt assigned yet or something like that?), Ive tried to follow things up myself, but it feels like I’ve basically just been left to figure everything out with very little actual support. Ive also been on Jobseeker and should be on parenting payments so that may help.

I’m not here to tick boxes or sit on the job search merry go round. I’ve got goals and I want to actually move forward, not just stay compliant.

A few questions:

  1. Is it normal to be left on self-managed online this long? I’m entering my 4th month and only now getting emails about agreeing to a job plan.

  2. How do I move to a provider? Is there a way to push for that, or do I just wait until they assign me?

  3. Are there any decent providers in SA that stand out as more helpful? Who’s actually helpful vs who just ticks the box. 3b) Are there any that I should avoid and why?

  4. What support is actually available once you’re with a provider? (fuel vouchers, rego help, tools, etc.)

I’ll be honest, the system feels pretty unclear and a bit backwards if you actually want to improve your situation instead of just meeting requirements.

I haven’t had a proper chance to engage with a provider yet, so maybe that changes things. Any advice or real experiences would be appreciated.

Is the Federal Government going to make changes to the privatised employment services scheme? This was in the news a few years ago. Have there been any real changes? I know DES has become IEA, but I haven’t noticed a real change with that. I with an IEA provider myself.

Working whilst receiving DSP

For anyone that is currently working 8-14 hours with compulsory obligations and who receives the DSP, do you still need to be attending appointments with an IEA consultant, or are you able to be exempt/exited? I've been getting some conflicting information from Centrelink.

Thank you!
