A lot of the crises that crop up in TOS/TNG era could have been resolved/avoided using 21st century tech

Obviously, they didn't know exactly how it would pan out But just from the perspective of now and projecting forward technologically.

  • Spock's sacrifice in Wrath of Khan, they could have used a robot to do what he did, or a robotic arm. Given how critical the location was they would likely have something of that nature in the room already. a plot solution to this aspect could be that an EMP was used by Khan or other damage which destroyed robots etc. on the ship, removing the technological solution
  • Essentially any scenario where a character has to go into a very hazardous environment such as in Year of Hell in Voyager. Then again given the extent of damage to the ship they could also knock out all technological options.

What game(s) did you find particularly meaningful/deep?

For example, the plot of Horizon Zero Dawn with the scenario of the entire human population being erased by robots gone rogue. Without spoiling it there are various audio and video clips and text records scattered around from prior to and during the final conflict. They function like breadcrumbs of information about the events.

Tree chewing on a railing, sadly at the ultimate cost of the tree

Another railing was installed just in front (you can see the edge of it at the bottom).

What are your thoughts on the Kurtzman era ship designs versus the TNG era?

Obviously between series there is cosmetic variation (Voyager and NX-01 look more military; Enterprise-D space hotel) but there are some also some recurring themes.

I miss traditional 2D animation

Chiefly Disney though not exclusively. There's a real art to this traditional 2D cel animation, Disney is all this Pixar samey 3d computer animation now and it starts to feel churned out not art.

If you look at classics like The Lion King (original), Dumbo, or The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The story is mature and the artwork is phenomenal. These are incredibly talented artists. Disney weren't afraid to cover heavy themes either.

Even when you get digital 2D animation, it tends to have this colder look vs traditional (you can see this in The Simpsons early series vs current).

Any tips on generating power reliably?

I'm using some waterwheels (immersive engineering) which generate a bit but not a lot. I've got coal generators but those aren't autonomous exactly (needs refilling) and not high output.

Start menu: When font size is increased, if the app title is too long to fit have it on two lines

Feedback Hub link: https://aka.ms/AA10wauq

It's a bit of a pain how it gets cut off like this. Yes, I know I can just change the font size back to 100% but then I'm struggling to see what I'm doing 🔍

In reference to the episode special The Giggle.

I think the historical setting of the toy shop was more interesting as a location and the creepy sequences with the puppets, doors etc.

That said that part of the episode was kind of short, as I would like to explore his realm more. Thoughts?

Is this necessarily a spoiler? Not sure, but just in case.

Gaia sets up biosphere development, all going well. Then oh shoot, it's out of control and chaotic.

Gaia: Ah sh*t, this isn't going to work at all. Erm, Hades?

Hades: Yes?

Gaia: This, this generation isn't going to work. Can you do your thing, deleting and stuff?

Hades: With pleasure! Die die die die!!! 😈 *destroys everything in the biosphere*.

Gaia: Was, was the die really necessary? Just 'delete' is fine. You take maybe a bit too much pleasure in your job I fear.

Hades: Nothing wrong with job satisfaction is there?

Gaia: I guess it's... OK 🤔

If you look at previous versions of the website, they were much more customised to the theme of the show whereas now it looks more like an streaming service homepage, very boxy and bland cookie cutter. Also, why is the domain now a bunch of code vs bbc.co.uk/doctorwho? Makes it feel like just another show not significant.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/topics/cg2m52x1kj5t

Look at the 2010 version, OK still quite boxy but feels a bit more involved.

There are more, I'm just having trouble accessing the website archive. Where's the immersion and excitement for the show?

So, just taking existing blocks and items in the game, what would you call their introduction? Be creative!

E.g.

  • Of Mycelium and Men: adds mycelium (Of Mice and Men reference)
  • Beach Party: added sand
  • Cookies Enabled: adds coca and cookies
  • An Apple a Day: oak trees drop apples
  • Pink Paradise: adds cherry blossom trees

In the short term the changes that they go from worshipping whatever is on the scroll to the vision of the Enterprise. What I wonder is longer term what is the effect on their civilization and development? If they advance to the level of a spacefaring species what will they be like?

I understand the concept of an abbreviated context menu to deal with the issue of menu bloat, but the issue is that it's getting bloated again and the user has no choice on what items will be shown in the contracted version.

There is a ribbon customiser in Microsoft Office and that feature could reused for this albeit simplified.
