Here’s a thing that shouldn’t be a thing

It’s an active meter. You would think the gas company could have seen this one coming 🤔

Update: The utility company finally took this one seriously and are working to relocate the meter.

Sign Disappearing Into Tree

The yellow sign still shows vestiges of "PRIVATE PROPERTY" written on it. I'll bet that in a few years the black replacement sign will also start getting engulfed.

Tree chewing on a railing, sadly at the ultimate cost of the tree

Another railing was installed just in front (you can see the edge of it at the bottom).

This square metal bar used to hold up a spiral metal slide that wrapped around the tree when I was a kid. Lots of fond memories. My boxer used to love going down it after me. Right next to a beach, ice cream trucks would come by in summer and kids still wouldn’t give up their spot in line for the slide.

A plaque nearby reads:

“A Page Out of
North St. Paul's History

In 1954, the North St. Paul Lions
received permission from the City Council to move an old fire escape to Silver Lake Park. The 18 foot fire escape, which was originally from the Standard Conveyor building in North St. Paul, was installed as a slide. The "curly slide" was enjoyed by many children over the years and became a beloved landmark in North St. Paul. Sadly, in 2012 the slide was damaged and had to be removed for safety reasons. The slide existed in this place for 62 years and provided years of enjoyment for generations.”

My neighborhood plants trees on the curb between the sidewalk and the street. They never take off the name tags of the tree; I try to remove as many as I notice. Looks like I missed this one last year.
