My new travel setup :)

First off, I don’t want to deal with sideloading.

Second, I had an old s20 fe with broken screen collecting dust which emulates pretty much everything perfectly.

This is more of a “for the heck of it” kinda thing and would be really useful for traveling.

Using HMDI video card and HDMI to Type C adapter.

iPad Pro M4 (used as monitor with ORION)

S20 FE (Snapdragon 865 5G)

Pros of this setup is that I can use my s20 to store all my roms and keep space available on my ipad since I use it for work and research mostly.

Extremely portable inside any bag.

Adapters can be used to connect devices to TV OR connect other devices TO iPad.

Now I can have JIT enabled emulators without sideloading ;p

Is there a way to force 4:3 on s20 fe?

I want to use my s20 fe with a 4:3 monitor but it shows black bars.

I usually use dex but it doesn’t matter if it’s dex or just straight monitoring

Fin Emulator 1.1.1 (iPad Pro M4) JIT-less GCN test

Default Settings + Fastest preset

Pikmin runs the smoothest with super monkey ball following.

Melee is mostly fine 1v1 but struggles a bit in free for all.

Sonic Heroes is crashes immediately and won’t open.

Luigi’s mansion runs fine except when a lot of ghost are there then it struggles a bit and stutters.

Ikaruga runs fine at first but explosion mess with it, and sometimes you have random slow-downs.

Viewtiful Joe feels a little slow but runs and plays fine.

Windwaker has consistent framerate indoors but stutters outdoors.

Also. I couldn’t figure out how to make the audio work. Basically all games have muted audio and I tried to mess around a bit but it couldn’t work.

Trying Fin Emulator iPad pro m4

Literally just downloaded Fin emulator and the first game I tried is melee.

I haven’t done anything on the settings yet. Just put in my iso and started it.

The match starts off really slow and then becomes normal speed. Controls feels great and responsive. Except for some reason the shield button is a bit laggy and it I am unable to wavedash. (I can wavedash normally I swear)

Also. No sound?

I’m gonna play around with the settings a bit more, but so far this is incredible.

Afraid to update (horror story)

This is gonna be a little long so bear with tl;dr at bottom

I have the iphone 14 pro ever since launch and it’s still on version 16.2

Never bothered me until some apps started to say they needed a new ios update.

Ok so I just update right?

NO

Basically when I try to update it, it downloads and installs then restarts and resets as if nothing happened and it deletes the downloaded update.

Tried to use a pc to force it to download and NOTHING. Doesn’t work.

Then a few months back while traveling to UK on business I visited an Apple store.

They tried the normal way, then they deleted installed vpns. Then they used a mac. Then they used ANOTHER mac. Another cable. Didn’t work.

Then she said that they would force it by basically factory resetting and using my own backup after updating everything to get all data back.

At this point I was around the 40-45 minute mark at the apple store.

Anyways she did that and tried to factory reset my phone and then….. she bricked it. Basically became a paperweight. She couldn’t turn it back to what it was and couldnt update it.

It was stuck in Recovery mode and there was no way to fix it. She told me that it must be a hardware issue and to fix it they need to replace the motherboard and it would cost 250-300 pounds (I don’t actually remember the quoted price might’ve been higher).

Basically buying a new phone wouldve been better but at that point I was short on money.

I took my phone and after going around contemplating life and cursing my luck I found a phone shop run by pakistanis (i love pakistanis now I owe them my life).

They basically took my phone and fixed it somehow for like 80 pounds and it took them about a week. He said that they didn’t replace anything but actually fixed the motherboard.

BUT. The phone is still on 16.2. They basically reverted it back to what it was.

Now I try to update and the same thing as before happens.

Downloads update. Installs. Restarts. Same old version.

What should I do? There are some apps I can’t use and I feel like my phone os starting to slow down.

Tl;dr iphone had motherboad issues and couldn’t update. Haddware issue fixed but still can’t update on its own. Afraid to use a laptop to force it because it bricked the phone before the motherboard issue.

One and done charger recommendations

Sorry if you get a lot of posts like this

I want to start off by saying I reeeaaally want the 140w anker, and I kinda want peoples to convince me to get it lol, but it is an overkill for my setup.

I have an ipad pro m4 and an iPhone 14 pro (might upgrade soon) and some peripherals like a Bluetooth controller and airpods.

I want something that I carry in my bag at all the times. Something I can charge all my devices plus any friend's

I need at least 3 ports (2 C 1 A OR 3 C). Foldable prongs. Fast charging/ PD. Not OVERLY large. Enough wattage to be comfortable for “future proofing” (though I do NOT plan on getting a laptop). Something that can last me years.

Ps. I wanted the anker 140w mostly because it matches my 165W Anker power bank (same design color and smart display)

[DISCUSSION] Stupid or Ingenious? (Travel Set Up)

S20 FE 5G -> TYPE C TO HDMI ADAPTER -> HDMI -> HDMI TO TYPE C VIDEO CAPTURE -> IPAD PRO M4 (ORION)

S20: Dolphin, Cemu, NetherSX2, GameNative

iPad: Delta, PPSSPP, Gamma

I don’t want to bother with side loading and I had an old s20 fe (snapdragon) with a broken screen lying around.

This setup is mainly for travel/ airplane/ work or study breaks away from home. I saw that there are usb c to usb c video capture cards that also have charging pass-through but I would have to order it online.

The positive for this setup is that if I want I can connect my iPad or s20 directly to a TV. OR connect my ps5 to my iPad if someone is using the TV.

Also the s20 is pretty useless without a secondary screen so I only have emus that have trouble running on the iPad.
