Cocoon Front End Is The Best Android Front End EVAAA!!!

Just showing off my Cocoon front end setup. I saw someone posted theirs a while back and I decided to try it out. It’s really cool and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to anything else. Not sure why the top part of the screen turns yellow that just happens because of the recording.

Extreme Thermal Mod for S25 (Snapdragon 8 Elite): From 25 FPS to 172 FPS (Peltier + Copper + Thermal Paste)

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my latest cooling project for the Samsung Galaxy S25 (Snapdragon 8 Elite). We all know this chip is a beast, but the glass back is a nightmare for sustained performance. Here is how I broke the thermal barrier:

The Hardware Setup:

  1. Passive VC Heat Sink:
  • Model:VC plate-E pro.
  • The Mod: I used a scalpel to remove the original adhesive film from the tube and replaced it with high-quality thermal paste for direct contact. This significantly improved heat transfer from the chassis.

  1. Active Cooling Grip (Custom Peltier):
  • Base:Cooling Fan Gamepad.
  • Critical Modification: I removed the stock black plastic plate (held by double-sided tape) and replaced it with a 1.5mm 100% Copper Plate cut to size.
  • I applied premium thermal paste between the Peltier cell and the new copper plate for maximum conductivity.

https://preview.redd.it/pkgk2lbyoltg1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e12cfee2be64c55a0668bc4abff39d4104e7b5c3

Benchmark Results (3DMark Wild Life Stress Test):

I ran multiple tests comparing the stock device against my final mod. The stability gain is massive:

Setup Min FPS Max FPS Avg Temp Stability Improvement
Stock (Out of box) 25 FPS 113 FPS 42°C (Thermal Throttling)
Final Mod (Copper/Paste) 45 FPS 150 FPS 42°C +80%
Active Mod (Peltier ON 75 FPS 172 FPS 37°C +200%

Visual Evidence: Sustained Performance (Results of the 3rd Test Pass)

The following images are the results of the third consecutive stress test pass (meaning, captured after pre-heating the phone with two identical previous runs to simulate sustained gaming):

1. Stock Test (No Cooler):

https://preview.redd.it/bng6fw3hqltg1.jpg?width=462&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dcbea7d8b068e29ed70963f9cc2a05ef76e324e0

2. Passive Cooler Test (Vapor Chamber):

https://preview.redd.it/zraysokiqltg1.jpg?width=462&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b849bb0de6cdd8c9299019eed7403e8c611d136e

3. Passive + Active Cooler Test (Peltier):

https://preview.redd.it/icahhqyjqltg1.jpg?width=462&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb5fa98a54bef0a4b504b28180b34329e6b710bb

Key Findings:

  • Temperature Drop: I managed to bring the sustained temperature down from a constant 42°C (throttling point) to a steady 37°C under extreme load. That’s a 5°C drop that translates into much higher sustained clocks.
  • The Glass Bottleneck: Even with the back freezing, the front glass near the selfie camera still traps some heat, but the rear mod pulls enough thermal energy to keep the FPS stable.
  • Gaming Experience: In heavy emulation (Switch/PC), I went from unplayable stutters at 25 FPS to a rock-solid experience above 60 FPS.
  • Pro Tip: I highly recommend enabling "Pause USB Power Delivery" in Game Booster settings to bypass the battery and reduce internal heat while playing.

Happy to answer any questions about the copper cutting process or the thermal paste application!

Razer Edge 5G switch emulation + frame generation

honestly rooting this thing was the best thing I could have done. before it struggled running any switch game at 1x resolution. I would have to drop to 0.75.

Anyone else having problems with Dolphin on the Thor recently (specifically custom texture packs)?

I just want to see if anyone else has encountered this issue, cause I don’t know if a recent update caused this or what. I have the AYN Thor Max model, just for clarification.

For a good while, my games were working perfectly with custom textures, widescreen, 60FPS, the whole deal. Now though, booting up several games with custom textures enabled is producing some very glitched images, and in one instance, the game crashes before I can even get to the title screen.

Games tested:

- Rayman 3 (still seems to be working)

- Mario Sunshine (glitchy intro graphics, HD textures aren’t loaded in main game)

- Zelda Twilight Princess (still seems to be working)

- Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 (glitchy intro graphics, HD textures aren’t loaded in main game)

- Zelda Twilight Princess

- Sonic Colors (crashes after accepting the controller)

- Zelda Skyward Sword (doesn’t load the pack at all, PNG instead of DDS)

Everything I tried:

- Switching graphics backends back and forth

- Toggling on/off texture prefetching

- Toggling on/off compiling shaders before game boot

- Uninstalling/reinstalling Dolphin completely

I built a clean, offline-first emulator frontend in C# (hash-based ROMs, no scraping) – Linux + Android

I got tired of messy emulator frontends relying on scraping and fragile filename matching, so I started building my own.

EutherDrive is a multi-system emulator frontend + core collection written in C# with Avalonia UI.

The main idea is to keep things deterministic and offline-friendly:

- ROMs are identified by hash (not filenames)

- Cover art is cached locally (Libretro thumbnails + No-Intro DAT matching)

- No scraping or online dependency once cached

- Shared savestates, playtime tracking, stars, etc.

Currently supports:

- Mega Drive / Genesis + Sega CD

- Master System / Game Gear

- Game Boy / Color / Advance

- NES / SNES

- PC Engine + CD

- PSX

- (N64 is wired but still WIP)

Runs on Linux, Windows, macOS (Avalonia), plus an Android frontend.

This started as a Mega Drive project and just kept growing.

Would love feedback from people who care about clean architecture / deterministic behavior.

Graphics settings on Eden has seen lots of improvements since the Yuzu days, which had very limited options to tweak around compared to what Eden now has. Yesterday, I Played around with Eden graphics settings on a sd860 device and found out that fine tuning the settings individually for each game can have a massive impact on the performance, instead of just staying on the default settings and hoping for the best. For example Arkham Asylum, on a heavy area, was getting only 18 fps before the tweak compared to a solid 30 after. Some of the games I tried, went from downright unplayable to running flawlessly! Which made me think, if only we had a way to share the game specific .ini file (a repository or something?) generated by the option shown in the screenshot, getting the games running would be so much easier.

Weird issue w/ Saturn beetle analog controls

I’m running into an issue when playing Saturn through retroarch using the beetle core on the Odin 2 portal. The analog controls for the 3d pad only recognize up and right, not down and left. I tried a different core (yabause) and the controls worked, though I was having graphical issues so I’d rather stick with beetle. I tried googling the issue but nothing came up. Anyone else experience this or have a solution? Or know of a better place to post this? Thanks

Eden does not start the game and fps drop to 0 in Samsung S25 Ultra | Eden (v0.2.0-rc2)

I was trying to emulate Jojo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle R in Eden (v0.2.0-rc2) on a Samsung S25 Ultra and at first it worked perfectly but after a couple of hours in the middle of the game the fps dropped to 0 and now every time I start the game, sometimes it automatically sends me back to the emulator menu, or the same thing happens with the FPS dropping to 0.

Some of the settings i had are

(sorry if it is confusing, the settings are in spanish in the app)

Cpu Accuracy: Accurate

Tabletop mode: On

Vsync: FIFO (on)

ASTC recompression method: BC1

Disk shader cache: on

asynchronous shaders: On

Cpu Engine: NCE

Everything else is on default.

Help please

Issue with RetroAchievements on Linkboy

For those who use Linkboy for GBA, I have an issue. Base on the screenshot below, the notification says I have 0 achievements although I already unlocked it when I look at my RetroAchievements profile on website. On the menu section it says I already got 1 achievement out of 386, it's just the tracker that has the issue. Tried resetting my Web API key but nothing resolves. Anyone knows how to fix this? Thank you
