(Yes, I beat up a dead horse. So what ?)
So Akuma from the Street Fighter universe is also in Tekken 7 as a guest. But unlike Geese Howard or Noctis, Akuma is treated like a canonical character in history.
And like every character whose last name is not Mishima, even if you are related to that family, you just serve as a glaze machine for Kazuya and especially Heihachi.
Akuma was one of the big marketing points of Tekken 7, especially in story mode since he was supposed to kill them, but in the end you could have had anyone from Kratos to Waddle Dee and it wouldn't change anything, he has 2-3 fights that don't change the story since in the end it's Kazuya who "kills" Heihachi and since Tekken 8 contains Kazuya, it just means that he was useless.
The new season of the Netflix series Devil May Cry has been released. This time, instead of being an "original" story with elements from DMC 3, we have an adaptation of the second game.
As my title said : where's the Fuck is Lucia ?
You made an adaptation of a specific game, a game that has a protagonist other than Dante, and you don't use said protagonist despite she's a cameo in the precedent season ? Why ?
"She would have been one character too many in the story," because it was absolutely necessary to have the character of the mysterious old sage who dies in the episode where he is introduced.
"She is a redundant character with Trish", Besides the fact that Trish doesn't appear while Lucia does, if we made an adaptation of the first game without Trish, or an adaptation of Tekken 3 without Jin, it would be the same. In addition, you are an adaptation of a game that is about twenty years old, so you can easily look at people's feedback on DMC 2 and look to improve the story.
"She would have been superfluous in the story of Dante and Vergil." It wouldn't have been superfluous in the story of VERGIL ONLY if you hadn't decided to mix elements from the third game with those from the second game.
This show is a mess of an adaptation. I don't want to know how they gonna adapt the 4th or 5th game.
Qui mets des boobs à des Lego putain ?
(Et je dois acheter ce truc si je veux faire une Lego Chun-li 😞🔫)
A recurring concept in our beloved video games is often the "evil version of me" trope, where we have to face a character who resembles us but isn't the same, or where our character is being mind-controlled. This trope can be used for both the story (showing a character growth or making a story about identity theft) and the gameplay (showing what the character can do or as a test to see if the player is better.)
Obviously, this kind of process is practical in games because it allows you to add content without increasing the workload, especially in older fighting games since you use an X sprite and change the color and movements (Mortal Kombat and Capcom games often did this).
The characters from Smash are no exception, some of them having even appeared in the games either as trophies/spirits, skins, or even as full-fledged characters, and you may be thinking of them when we talk about possible skins for certain characters. Hell, some of the most requested characters have/are definitely one. (Not you, Waluigi; you may have started out that way, but now you're your own character with a potential moveset and a toxic fanbase.)
So I thought to myself, "What if we looked at all of this, because there's enough here to make a Smash game." Except the one who are a full character in the roster because this is kinda useless.
I must clarify 4 points first :
-1 I am not very familiar with all the licenses, so I may and probably will forget some characters. Any information about characters that complies with the other rules will be appreciated. Especially for Square Enix or Earthbound characters.
-2 The topic of mind control and cloning is easily conflated with the rival character, which can lead to confusion, especially at the beginning of a character's story, since some were originally conceived that way. However, I want to clarify that if they are not clones or copies within the story, I don't count those characters. So, examples like Wario, Wolf, Shadow, Galacta Knight, and Akuma don't count, but characters like Metal Sonic do. And cases of Pokémon being used against you, even if by a villain, do not count, so there will only be one representative of Pokémon.
-3 Since for some licenses, we'll have cases that appear in media outside of games, I've decided to only count them if they end up in a game, even if the game is non-canon, so no Pikachu Groudon but yes Violent Ken. And cases of fan creation like Herobrine don't count.
-4 While in some cases we won't have anything, in others we'll have several, and some concepts will be repeated between characters from the same franchise, so to avoid repetition, I plan to vary the approach. If a concept is mentioned, I won't bring it up again, but I will mention the other characters involved. I'm not going to talk about Dark Link three times or about Cosmic Mario only to talk about Cosmic Luigi later. And the clones that we have in Smash Multiman mode don't count.
Now that we've established the rules, I'll see you tomorrow to talk about the Smash 64 roster.
Have a nice days everyone.
