Should we not have a weekly "new players, dumb questions' post?

If we want to be welcoming, maybe we should foster a place where it's ok to be new and not know anything and be able to ask without being judged for not being a top tier player when you just started?

Maybe this could be it? Mods? Guys? What do you say?

Ok I'm starting to get the hang of aiming.

There's a lot to be said about simply scoping out an area first so you know what routes the bots are walking and taking the time to just clear them one by one.

I can't really aim on the fly very quickly, but I'm getting quite good at aiming down sights and just preparing for when the bots walk into my aim.

How to apply this to PvP I have no idea, but I feel like the bots are the training wheels for later PvP stuff.

I think I've killed 5 players at this point after 200 hrs and that was mostly just luck.

Any tips on how to improve?

Whenever I get up close my aim is ALL over the place and in terms of bots it's just easier to run up to them and punch them in the face, than it is to get a lock on while everything is moving and being up close.

Is it. me or are the free green kits making the game a lot more fun?

I'm having way more longer encounters than before. The floor has been raised! :)

How do you reconcile feeling like you “missed out on life” because you’re autistic?

I’ve spent most of my life trying to catch up to what I thought my peers were supposed to become: getting married, having kids, building a social life — all the usual “normal life” milestones.

But I kept failing at them, over and over.

I’m 50 now. I’ve never had a girlfriend, and I still don’t really have friends. For most of my life, I fought against accepting that I was autistic because my parents wanted me to be “normal,” and all I wanted was to make them happy. So I learned to suppress my behaviors, mask constantly, and reshape myself into someone more acceptable.

Eventually it got so extreme that I kind of erased myself in the process.

Now I feel like I’m carrying decades of emotions I was never really allowed to express. And I’m starting to realize I may never get to “go back” and have the normal childhood, teenage years, or adulthood I spent so long trying to imitate.

Maybe my role in life was never to perform normalcy. Maybe I was always meant to experience life differently — more as an observer than as someone constantly acting a part for other people.

Sometimes it takes half a lifetime to become who you actually are.

I think what I struggle with most now is grieving the amount of time I lost trying to be somebody else.

For those of you who relate to this: how do you reconcile decades of pretending? How do you make peace with feeling like you lost so much time?

Disclosure: I was diagnosed 8 years ago.

I'm using VoiceMod and OBS but somehow I messed it up and now there's no audio coming through to Xbox (my little icon in Marathon has no indicator that I'm speaking when I am)....

Can anyone ehelpl?

What do you expect? That’s not ratting. I’m minding my own business, and you come crashing in—breaking windows, looting, stomping around like no one’s there. Of course I’m going to gear up and take you out.

I think I’ve found my lane with the Assassin shell after maining Recon for over a month. Assassin feels perfect for solo play—quiet, patient, and punishing careless players.

In duos, though, it would be lethal: Recon marks targets, Assassin closes in for the kill, with Recon covering from range. That combo just makes sense.

Honestly, this game is incredible. I just really want duos back. And while we’re at it, put all queues on one map—trios, duos, solos, Rooks—everything together. I don’t really get why they’re separated.

Rant over.

When a child is killed in traffic, we don't have a universal symbol to make that invisible tragedy VISIBLE.

Can we come up with something? I saw someone on streetsblog suggest a white tricycle?

Maybe a stencil of a ghost child. But I don't know if that will make people consider children in traffic.

There was an experiment done in one of those European countries, I forget which, where when placing a tricycle in intersections at modest to busy roads, drivers slowed down at the sight of it.

Maybe because their instincts of 'look out, there's a child here somewhere' kicks in?

Maybe a RED tricycle would be better to remind us of the blood spilled? A white tricycle with red splotches on it, would probably be the most eye catching reminder of the tragedy that happened and happens every day.

There is a noticeable lag, and you can't watch Apple TV movies on it or anything with DRM...

why insist on it being wireless when/if you are working on a Mac you are most likely sitting down anyway, and there's a wire connected to it anyway ... so what gives?

Wouldn't a USB C lag-less version of Virtual Display be SO much better?

Earlier today some website asked me what Platform I mostly gamed on, and I wanted to say Mac, because I'm literally sitting in front of my Mac all day playing Marathon ... but technically, it's Xbox.

Mac OS Xbox

Haha

It serves as a release valve of all the pressure you put on yourself to build gear when you lose it.

And every time I go back as rook I keep thinking ... (1... I've really grown, I know how to navigate this a lot better now holy crap and 2) why don't I do rook runs more often, this is awesome. 3. the matches load instantly.

Plus since I play mostly with free kits because I know I will lose my good shit the minute I bring it with, the rook actually come better equipped than regular me, now lol

But knowing your armory lockers, your coffers, your UESC vaults or whatever they call them... and since you have the signal mask you can actually loot while all the alerted UESC bots is going aggro ...

I really think the Rook is the game changer that. makes the extraction genre more palatable to people.

Don't worry about gear fear. Just rook it.

If more businesses realized how much more revenue they'd generate if the street their retail business was located on, had a bike lane, I think a lot more vocal support for more bike lanes would arise faster.

Personally I'm gonna start asking my local shops if they would sign a petition to the city to convert their street into one with a bike lane and more pedestrian space.

You know, to increase revenue.
