Any way to separate Rohn tower sections that have gone through galvanic corrosion and rust in the connections?

I have a short tower made up of three sections that was used primarily for an OTA TV antenna over the past 25 years. Our neighborhood trees have long since grown too tall to allow OTA digital signals to reach the antenna so I have gone to a streaming service for television. I would like to take the tower down and either offer it to someone if they can reuse it or, barring that, send it to a recycler.

Unfortunately, the three sections of the tower (2 straight and a tripod) have fused together and the homemade steel base that was given to me when I acquired the tower sections has rusted inside the lowest section. I've tried pouring oil into the tower legs and then hammering it and that has not yielded any results. Would heating the joints improve my results? Am I going to have to just cut the tower apart and send it to scrap?

What does the date associated with the “150” actually mean?

After my senator’s office got involved the return is moving. Did I read that the date they apply to the 150 means absolutely nothing and that I shouldn’t get excited until another status shows up.

Do any of the "fans" commenting on social media actually just enjoy the football experience?

Many fans seem to be watching everything Mike Repole does with the UFL like they're trying to predict the outcome of some kid playing a "Pro Football Tycoon" computer game from the 1990s.

  • "Repole's trying to tank the league so he can use it as a tax write-off."
  • "Repole's trying to build the league up so it can be sold off."
  • "Repole plans to move the Stallions to Boise/Oklahoma City/Mayberry at the end of the season."
  • "Repole ran off Skip Holtz and blackballed many of the former USFL players because he and the rest of the back office wanted to eliminate all references and reminders of the USFL."

I can't help wondering if these amateur prognosticators actually enjoy the football or are they just rubbernecking to see how bad the wreck is?

The saga has gone on for over a year now...

  • the first paper return that just disappeared
  • the second copy that sat in limbo in Texas for 9 months
  • the repeated calls to phone numbers that rarely get answered
  • the answered calls that promise a status update in 30 days
  • the promises that my account was being referred and would be followed up on by someone else in 30 days
  • the referral to the Taxpayer Advocacy Service
  • the acknowledgement by the TAS
  • the request to a senator for assistance
  • the message from the senator's staffer that a TAS rep had been contacted personally
  • the message from the staffer confirming that the TAS rep had requested action on the account and would continue to monitor the situation.

Today, I checked Where's My Refund and got this for the first time. My 2024 return has been received. Not Approved or Sent, just acknowledged.

In the future, I will take every precaution possible to ensure that I never mail another return to the IRS again! I had to file an extension for my 2025 return because eFiling isn't possible until the previous year's return has been processed.

Here's hoping there are no more roadblocks.

I'm getting ready to post my review of the Mellow Marshmellow comforter that I requested from RFY a week or so ago. Out of curiosity, I checked to see what others are saying about it. There are currently 33 global ratings. All of the 1- and 2- star reviews are from non-Viners. All of the 3- and 4-stars are from Viners. About a third of the 5 stars are from Viners. The message that sends to me is "it's worth $FREE!"

If everyone who gets it from Vine finds reasons to like/love it but the folks who paid $130US+ give it a mediocre rating, as a buyer, who do you trust?

We have a Broyhill Fortana entertainment armoire in our bedroom that I would like to add some simple cam locks to the lower cabinet doors. If the vertical piece inside the cabinet were centered, I could probably make short work of it, but it’s not.

I’m not looking for strong security, just to keep curious people out of it. I could install a cam lock on the upper or lower portion of the door using the cabinet frame for the cam slots, but the doors are pine and I don’t want someone yanking on the locked door to break it loose (by twisting the hinges).

There’s a 1” gap between the inside of the doors and the face of the vertical piece inside. I’m thinking of using a 1x3 fastened (actually on center) to the vertical face plus use a pocket hole jig to allow me to secure it at the top and bottom and then fasten the strike plate to it so the cam locks can grab it. That would allow me to put the locks right below the knobs.

Before I go down this path, is there another method I should consider?

For context, I am 2 weeks into my new evaluation period. I have requested 14 items in the past 3 weeks and received 12 of them. I submitted most of my reviews yesterday (all with images) and they are still in pending status.

When I opened my tabs this morning, the "account" tab showed me this. It was still early in the morning, and my synapses were still firing at 1/3- to 1/2-speed, so I went just a little haywire before reality set in.

Apparently, there's a point at which this page gets some updates before the reviews are fully analyzed. Since all of my stats usually live in the green-to-dark green range, this was kind of scary.

I'm going for more coffee now.
