Advice on my WIP

Advice on my WIP

Hello! I started working on this piece two days ago, it's an original piece about transness and it likens top surgery to Jesus's side wound.

I like, really hate how the background is working out. Any advice on how to make this look more cohesive and professional is welcome.

Any advice on the perspective and contruction

I'm trying to getting the perspective and contractions of this right. But I need more options on this. Does it look like she's lifting her up, or is it too flat and misshapen?

Help cat

I'm still having trouble controlling the watercolor; it tends to clump together and sometimes turns muddy, but I've seen improvements over the past few days. .....On this occasion I present to you a bittersweet memory from my childhood watching television, a short cartoon that I rediscovered in my adulthood and which made a lot of sense to me with its firm, tender and acidic criticism.Thank you for giving me this space to express myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXyNYG_jG7g

AITA for not citing every single reference photo I use? (Was told its as bad as AI)

I think I need a reality check because im a little heated/salty at the moment. For context, I'm somewhat new in art communities. I started drawing traditionally a year ago and just recently started trying out digital.

I finished this Jinx fanart earlier this week and started sharing this timelapse that includes my whole trial and error kind of process. I've been getting some comments and messages about not crediting all the references I used (there were many for the first half of the timelapse).

I thought these were just typical social media ragebaiters, so I checked with a longtime/veteran art friend of mine but they also called me out and agreed. When I explained im not doing anything 1:1 and mainly checking shadows/lightings/specific poses he told me that not dropping links/credit to every photo or creator I referenced is ip theft. He said that taking bits and pieces from uncredited references is "as bad as AI" because im just taking credit for other people's work.

I would always credit if its a heavy reference or close to 1:1 but these are in my opinion very benign? Idk I'm lowkey insulted a little, am I wrong on this? I've never seen anyone put a fat bibliography in their social media captions for art...

Am I being scammed (?) art commission

So someone DM me on discord asking if I can do a commission for them and sent a picture of a real girl from Pinterest. They take super long to reply, (sometimes days) don’t have a profile picture, but what makes me less suspicious is that they made their account in 2024.

I’ve seen so many people get scammed through PayPal, so I was just wondering!

Have a good day!

I need some advice on how to make my picture better

I was put in change of making the design for the back of my hs Eco-Club tshirts. I’m very new to digital art and I just feel like my picture is very flat and lacks depth. I will take any and all advice on how to make it better. 🥲🙏

Update! has the face improved or am i just adding too much? or should i go back to the start

this is an update for a drawing I posted a while ago

I haven't finished the hair yet but i tried to make the face stand out more by adding highlights, but it still looks off to me

i could remove the highlights on his face and stick with the old version but then the whole drawing had barely any contrast

and i keep liking the version where i only coloured the bangs and nothing else (the last slide)

idk he just looks more nonchalant in the last slide😖

and also should i just redraw the rest of the hair entirely other than the bangs?

does anyone have any advice?

Facial anatomy tips? Concerned about same face syndrome

Rendering is inconsistent as I’m learning what I like and what looks good to me so hopefully that doesn’t take away from or distract from what I’m asking about…

Basically, just wondering if all the faces blend together and look the same or if there’s enough diversity in features to distinguish them? I think I need a new set of eyes on them because they’re all blurring together when I look at them 🫠

I’m also trying to brush up more on my facial anatomy skills and though my art is more cartoony or stylized any and all tips or critiques on that are welcome!!!! Pointing in the direction of resources for studies is also very much appreciated ☺️

The last piece is like four months old and in more of a chibi-fied style! Some of these mix between chibis and not-so-chibi (yes, all but one of these are tieflings and no, I do not have a tiefling problem /j)

Okay. I took some advice and started studying forms and perspective. Is there any improvement or things I can work on?

Newest to oldest. I started practicing sketches using more perspective drawing and using direct reference for the pose instead of doing it from memory. It’s still pretty wonky and a bit out of my comfort zone, but that’s how you improve, right? Also shoutout to my therapist for helping me stop connecting my ability at art to my self-worth. I’m studying pretty hard for art rn since I need to be able to do well on AP art cause I’m trying to get into CalArts. (I’m a sophomore rn, so it’s a year or so away) the level expected of AP art is way above my level but I seeing how fast I’ve progressed in art since January without rigorous study probably means that with the right books and materials I can do it. It’s not that different from studying for school Imo with the main exception that I actually enjoy doing it and never really get sick of drawing, even if Its excruciating at times, some form of masochism keeps me going haha. I’ve picked up a copy of Color and Light by Gurney and a set of drawing heads and hands and figure drawing for all it’s worth by andew loomis and plan on combing through them at some point.

What drawing pad should I use for pc drawing

Hi I want to get into digital drawing but I don’t have a drawing pad. I look at some of apple or some big company drawing iPad and they were very expensive so I was wondering if there were any good drawing tablet that were below £1000

How do people like this know how to detail their art so well?

I’ve always struggled with detailing as I just don’t know where to go with it, like how do I know this random line will convey more than I already got? But when I don’t it ends up being flat and boring compared to what it could be, but how do artists like this one know where to detail?
