I wanted one of these for a long time. I bumped into this one a few years ago and grabbed it. It shoots better than it looks.
I scoped this 10MM using a Carver mount and a 2X Leupold. Groups are just under 2" at 70 yards. It worked well on this big doe. I used a handloaded 120 gr. CEB bullet. Since then I have swapped the scope out for a Matchdot II Green.
Here are 3 very special revolvers. The gun on the left is a TLA #5 that Bill Grover didn't finish. Alana Harton completed it. The gun in the middle is the 5 1/2" .41 Magnum Redhawk that Bill Ruger gave to Skeeter Skelton. Bill asked Skeeter what would make the perfect Redhawk and Skeeter told him make the 5 1/2" in .41 Magnum. At the time they didn't make Redhawks in .41. A few few weeks later Bill should up at Skeeter's house and handed him the gun. Its mine now. The Gun on the right is John Taffin's personal .44 Mountain Gun with its Deacon Deason grips installed by John.
Shot this buck a little over 80 yards with the Bisley Hunter. The gun just works.
This was the first part of the bear 10mm vs. .44 magnum article. I talked to several individuals that survived bear attacks that had to shoot the bear.
I have a few but this one has turned into my favorite. KKM barrel and a mild action job. I put TAG Precision sights on it. By far the best fiber sights I have used. The fixed sights are right on the money with 180 grain Underwood loads and my 180 grain handload with XTPs.
This gun is turning into one of my favorites. I upgraded the front sight to a Fermin Garza brass bead front and Fermin Garza #10 rear. Since I shoot heavies in this one all the time I had to get a tall front to work with the read down in the protective ears. It works perfectly. Garrett's heavies or my handloads with 310 grain Oregon Trails both shoot great in the gun. I had Backcountry Leather Goods build me a chest rig for it.
