Sharing my recovery journeys in appendicitis

Sharing my recovery journeys in appendicitis

I recalled asking around few subreddits to find the answers post op. So I figured maybe I should write one myself to share on the journey.

It started as if I have gastric. Went to GP. Prescribed painkiller and it didnt get better. I have gastric on and off so before going for GP, I had medicine and the pain persisted. After the GP, the meds made me drowsy, so I slept. When I wokeup it was already 6pm. Forced myself to have dinner and couldnt finish it due to the sharp pain. Went for ER. Waited there for 2 hours. Couldn't wait anymore, went to private hospital. On my way there, the pain was just gone.

The GP examined me and pressed my tummy on multiple areas. And we found out the pain had migrated to my right bottom belly. GP suspected it's appendicitis. Told me to do CT scan and blood test. It was already midnight.

Report came out 2am and was told it's appendicitis. 8am my surgeon came over and asked if I would go for surgery. I told him, let me consider about this. I was all alone at hospital as I didnt think that it would be so serious. I thought it was just gastric. Informed my family and they were trying to convince me and encourage me to go for it. 11am informed the nurse that I was ok for surgery. Signed the consent for 1pm schedule surgery.

Surgery took about 1 hour. I was in hospital for 3 days. On last day, I was already able to walk slowly.. super slowly. Discharged on day 4.

First 2 weeks, dressing was still there. Careful during shower to not rub onto it. Trying to clock 1k step, 2k steps, finally 5k steps daily within the first 2 weeks. It took me 1 hour plus to complete 5k steps. I still felt discomfort and poking sensation around my incision area if I were to speed up.

Wfh for 1 month. Week 3 and 4, things were improving. But not yet back to workout. I tried to stretch and even cat cow felt like stretching my incision area. So I refrained.

Week 5 and week 6, slowly back to normal. I can walk normal speed, minimal dull ache if I walk fast.

Week 7 back to office. Started back my pilates instructor journey again with more arms and legs moves, no abs related moves.

Week 8 finally back to my first reformer class. No more discomfort but of course go easy on abs related moves. I still feel it on and off about the stretching sensation around my incision area.

Week 9, back to lifting. Start easy, no PR. Just my usual weight for biceps curl and split squat.

It takes time but it's worth it when you make it back to your workout without any discomfort. I reminded myself everyday to not do silly things before I was ready. As a person that workout everyday, sudden pause on this routine was really tough for me.

I am glad to share this journey. Ask me anything!

Got this from China last year. About to try. It's very hard to find the reviews online. So, wondering if anyone used this before, any thoughts?

Ok, the title oversimplified many things. Let me explain.

I have work bestie. Work bestie means we talk shit about work, go lunch, everything around work. Means also if I have family issues, relationship issues, I wont talk to my work bestie for this.

But... my work bestie would talk about her kids' issues with me. Eg like if the kid got bullied, what would I do (if it's my kid). If the kid sick, should she take leave? Etc etc in my pov, cant she coordinate with the husband instead?

And based on the stories, the husband is present financially. I cant say for physically and emotionally.

Is this what people meant with being single mom in marriage? Like.. I am not married, no kids. I cant relate to her questions nor I want to tank the mental loads of having an imaginary kids.

Of course, i dont say all these to her or show that I dont care. But reality is I dont care nor I have any good inputs on her queries.

Thoughts? Why people dont discuss with their partners one?

As promised, updated

Appreciate your inputs in my previous post. Some of you are kind but still got your message across.

Some of you are just straight harsh words.

All good.

Will update again once we meet in Part 3 :)

Ps.. I think the negative thoughts of mine stem more from reddit than my own dating experience where like what one of you mentioned, "expensive dates are off table for first dates" and the bitterness of some of you thinking ladies are out for free meals. While aiming for free meals or expensive dates are not my intention to start with.

So with that, Id take my time off from this sub instead.

So I did put a statement on my profile that I dont drink (coffee/alcohol/dairy) and Im all about food. I met quite abit and never have guys questioning my prompt. No idea if the guys read this, but they usually ask me out for dinner. Even long before I got this prompt on.

Then I saw this guy with similar prompt on food and thought we have commonality. Sent him a like. Wokeup and found his first opening question. Quite taken aback, ngl.

We are in Singapore, btw. Hence, "SG"

Edit : ill post part 2 and share when he replies

Edit 2: woah interesting to see how different we see things and potentially written by AI. I will defo update the post.

I feel like my age group and circle dont really use this word. More like, people a decade older would use. It's like gen gap thing.

Would you think so?

Context, moving towards wfo but still adjusting. Meaning that many teams still on and off wfh and their supervisors are ok with it.

My case, I asked if I can wfh if slight unwell that doesnt warrant MC but better at home without AC and commuting. Le boss said nope, better take MC, rest and dont wfh. Later difficult to justify why got people under le boss wfh when other teams wfo.

So I took MC. Then still kena disturb for work. Then?? So wfh cant, but take MC but still need to work?
