However while I understand the book plot needing to go ahead I do think this is actually a foolish portrayal of her thought process. The lady who gave the intelligence about where Marcos was was not 100%. Chrisjen could have easily told the general that I'm not just going to shoot down ships especially when she had shot down the sojourner just on a hunch. That it was too big a risk and that's what Marines do. I think that would have forestalled that person's resigning. But to build on the election drama and everything else this is the choice that was made by the authors
