Any other chaotic GAA stories?
Lads Ive just gone down a bit of a rabbit hole and I swear early GAA was absolute chaos 😂
So in 1888 the All-Ireland football championship basically just… fell apart mid-way through... No big final, no proper ending, nothin...
From what I make out, the GAA sent a load of players off to America on some fundraising tour....Grand idea in fairness, but it basically nuked the championship because half the counties lost their best lads halfway through...Fixtures started collapsing, teams couldnt field sides properly, and the whole thing just fizzled out...
And the mad bit — Limerick were later “awarded” the title even though there wasnt really a proper final or anything like what we’d call a championship today. More like a “ah sure ye were still standing at the end” type of decision...
Its gas thinking about it because were so used to the All-Ireland being this ultra-organised, sacred thing now, but back then it sounds like half sporting competition, half organised chaos, half lads missing because they were in New York trying to sell hurling to Americans 😅
Anyway, anyone else come across mad early GAA stories like that? Feels like theres load of stuff from the early years that never really gets talked about...

What foreign literature are students required to read?
Does the UK mandate students read any fiction by authors from other countries? If so, which books?

Historical flashpoints in Jewish-Roman relations
Can someone briefly chronicle or summarize the major flashpoints in Jewish-Roman relations between 1st century BCE and 2nd century CE? I can think of a few but I don't know all of them:
- Emperor Tiberius expels Jews from Rome in 19 CE
- Emperor Caligula orders a statue of himself for the Second Temple in Jerusalem in 40 CE
- Emperor Claudius expels Jews from Rome in 49 CE
- Roman destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in 70 CE
- Bar Kokhba Revolt and emperor Hadrian's expulsion of Jews from Judea in 136 CE.
