Have any of you successfully gone from taking sleep medicine to not taking it?

I have a new sleep medicine doctor and I've been having some issues and his opinion is that I should get rid of the drugs because they don't actually help. I see his point, these drugs just aren't working the way they're supposed to. I have tried Doxepin, Dayvigo and Quiviviq. Also hydroxyzine and trazodone (didn't like either one of those and doctors don't like long-term hydroxyzine use).

His opinion is that I shouldn't equate unconsciousness with good sleep. It's a fair point.

So intro messages are paywalled unless you actually subscribe?

Because, for the first time ever, I got a like with an intro message and I went to read it and it looks like I have to pay to read it.

Which means that anybody that I sent an intro message to in the past, they wouldn't be able to read it because they aren't paying. Because I'm a man dating women and lots of women don't have paid accounts.

This is really dumb.

Dayvigo may have increased my AHI

Started it on May 5th. That's a big increase in AHI. The first 2 nights I did 5mg and the next two I did 2.5mg. The pills don't cut well unfortunately. I paid $150 for a 30 day supply, may have been a waste of money. One doctor (ND) suggested it, but my sleep med doc says all sleep aids are a mixed bag at best.

Compared to Quiviq (who knows how the fuck to spell that goofy name) the Dayvigo is much worse for me. I got it because someone here said they had good REM sleep from it.

I'm trying to help her because she's getting out of an abusive marriage and running into financial trouble because her ex-husband being a dick bag of course, because he's generally a dick bag.

She's doing professional cuddling which I'm very concerned about because it seems like it would be so easy for her to get raped.

I told her she should sell her underwear but I don't know a thing about it beyond that so does anybody have any tips for how she can get started with this? Maybe there is a subreddit for this that has a good FAQ?

(her and I are not dating and I'm not interested - this doesn't seem relevant but it seems like somebody's going to ask or accuse me of trying to get into her pants or some shit)

I was talking to a doctor the other day and he was excited about pumpkin seed oil as an alternative to oral finasteride/dutasteride. He said something about recent research, but when I asked tressless GPT about it it said that the most recent research was 2014.

My sleep medicine doctor said this in an email message: "Evidence for health and wellness benefits from sleep aids is almost completely absence [sic] despite billions made in the industry. If there were large health and wellness benefits from fake sleepiness on sedatives there would be a much larger signal."

In other words: there's no real evidence that they're worth a damn. He also said don't confuse length of sleep with quality of sleep. Sleep aids give you better length of sleep, but they don't improve quality of sleep and they usually lead to daytime grogginess.

It turned out my leak rate was high and that's why my CPAP was consuming so much water. I have a dream station one and if I didn't fill up the tank every night it would be dry by the morning. It was using about 3/4 of the water in the tank per night. I have my humidity turned up to maximum because my sinuses get dried out/stuffed up if I don't (which totally disrupts my sleep). But the leak rate is probably involved in that too.

I have a new mask on the way.

But I dealt with this problem for many months and I never checked my leak rate.

And if you don't know how to check your leak rate: Oscar. And if you don't know what that is Google "Oscar CPAP software".

I think there might be something else that determines whether the device will ever go up to that pressure, but I can't find anything in the settings that does that. I thought that I had turned this device down so that the PSI pressure would never go over 12, because I was getting some aerophagia.

I called the sleep medicine center that has remote control over the device, but they refused to check any settings, they said you have to make an appointment for that. But I recently switched insurance so I have to wait for a new patient orientation appointment with the new sleep medicine doctor (HMO to PPO).

If I download this data into Oscar, will I be able to see what the maximum pressure was over the last 3 days?
