Just created a new YouTube Channel

Just wanted to share what I'm building since

I found this community super helpful already.

A week ago I started a channel doing short storytelling videos , personal stories with emotional hooks + motivation at the end. Like "that moment I realized X" type stuff. With a moral at the end to inspire other peoole to become their best of themselves and sharing what I did so they can also learn form my personal experience.

My handle: @ferrcabrera

First videos are getting decent retention but still learning, I would really appreciate any feedback that you guys might have and also suscribe, it would make my day🙃

Thank you so much for being such a good supportive person helping new creators 🙏

Hey Reddit,

I've been thinking seriously about getting into content creation and actually treating it like a real career, not just a hobby. I'm not looking to go viral overnight — I genuinely want to build something sustainable over time.

A few things I'd love to get input on:

- Where do you even start? Pick one platform and master it, or spread across multiple?

- How do you find your niche without it feeling forced or fake?

- What does a realistic timeline look like before you start seeing real traction?

- How do you stay consistent when growth is slow and motivation dips?

- Any tools, habits, or mindset shifts that made a real difference for you?

I'm aware it's a crowded space and there's a lot of noise out there, but I'd rather hear from people with real experience than watch another "how to blow up on YouTube" video.

Whether you're a full-time creator, someone who tried and stopped, or just someone who knows the space well — all perspectives are welcome. Be brutally honest if you want, I'd rather know the hard truths upfront.

Thanks 🙏

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm currently researching universities of applied sciences (HBO) in the Netherlands and would love to hear from people with firsthand experience.

I'm particularly interested in programs related to Business Administration but I'm also curious about the general quality, student life, and career outcomes.

A few questions I have:

- Which universities of applied sciences (hogescholen) do you think stand out, and why?

- How do internship and work placement opportunities compare between institutions?

- Is there a noticeable difference in reputation among Dutch employers?

- For international students — how welcoming and English-friendly are the programs?

I've been looking at places like HAN, Fontys, The Hague University of Applied Sciences, and Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA), but honestly it's hard to compare them from the outside.

Any personal experiences, tips, or things you wish you'd known before choosing are super welcome. Thanks in advance! 🙏

I’ve noticed that being an “influencer” is still seen as kind of dumb or unserious, especially compared to traditional paths like academics or corporate careers.

But I don’t fully get why that perception is still so strong.

Yeah, there are definitely creators who just post trends or entertainment with no real value. But there are also a lot of people making genuinely educational content—explaining complex topics, sharing study strategies, teaching skills, even helping people make better financial or career decisions.

Some of these creators are basically doing what teachers or mentors do, just in a more accessible and scalable way.

At the same time, I still see people say things like “content creation isn’t tangible” or that it’s not a serious path compared to getting top grades, scholarships, etc.

So why does the whole field still get dismissed?

Is it because:

\- it’s a relatively new career path?

\- most people fail at it?

\- or because the lowest-quality content is the most visible?

Genuinely curious how people see it. Do you think content creation deserves more respect, or is the criticism still valid?

I'll be honest. My life at home is hell.

My mum is with a stepfather who has made my life a nightmare since I was 10. Constant abuse, she does nothing about it. I feel invisible and trapped in my own house. I'm not going to go into details but it's been years of just surviving.

On top of that I'm doing the IB — International Baccalaureate. If you know, you know. It's brutal.

I'm in Latin America. I have a smartphone and a laptop. I have less than $100 saved. I'm 16.

But here's the thing — I'm not writing this to vent. I'm writing this because I have a plan and I need advice from people who have actually done it.

What keeps me sane:

Social media. Genuinely the only place I feel peace. And that made me realize — I want to become a content creator focused on \*\*financial education\*\*. Not boring textbook stuff. Real, essay-style, relatable content for young people in Latin America who were never taught how money works. Budgeting, saving, building income, getting out of broke situations. The stuff nobody teaches us in school.

I want to help people overcome financial struggles because I know what it feels like to have nothing and need a way out.

My goal is simple: be free at 18.

Free means: out of this house, financially independent enough to survive, either in university on a scholarship or earning online. I have roughly 2 years.

I know the IB is my biggest asset — a strong score could open international scholarships that cover tuition and housing, which would be my clean exit. I also know that building content and learning a digital skill (editing, copywriting, freelancing) could give me income before I turn 18.

What I'm asking:

\- How should I focus my energy across IB, content creation, and building income — all at the same time?

\- What's the most realistic way to start earning online in Latin America at 16 with just a laptop and phone?

\- How do you stay consistent and keep building when your home environment is draining everything out of you?

\- Has anyone here built their way out of a situation like this? What do you wish you had known at 16?

I'm not looking for pity. I've had enough of feeling like a victim. I'm looking for a real, honest plan from people who have been in hard places and found a way out.

If you read this far, thank you. Any advice helps.

Hey,I'm trying to plan out my extracurriculars with college applications in mind and could use some honest advice from people who've been through the process.

A few questions I have:

  1. What extracurriculars actually made a difference in your application? Are admissions officers more impressed by leadership roles, community impact, or something else entirely?

  2. I've been thinking about starting a social media page focused on teaching basic personal finance to people my age — things like budgeting, credit, investing basics, etc. Would running something like that as an "influencer" or content creator actually look good on an application, or would admissions see it as less serious compared to traditional stuff like clubs or volunteering?

  3. Does the number of followers/reach matter, or is it more about the initiative and consistency?

  4. Any extracurriculars you wish you had done, or ones that genuinely helped you stand out? Could it be chess club?

Appreciate any input — especially from people who've recently gone through admissions or anyone who works in that space.

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm a student currently doing the IB (International Baccalaureate) with 6 subjects, and on top of that I run a social media page as a content creator. Balancing study deadlines, content schedules, and just life in general has been a real struggle lately.

I've been looking into AI-powered calendar and scheduling apps to help me stay on top of everything, but there are so many options out there and I honestly don't know which one is worth using.

So I wanted to ask — what app or tool do YOU use to manage your time and make sure you never miss a deadline? Bonus points if it:

- Has AI scheduling or smart reminders

- Is free or affordable

- Works well for juggling multiple responsibilities

Would love to hear what's actually working for real people rather than just reading reviews. Drop your recommendations below! 🙏

Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone! I currently have black hair (second pic) and I've been thinking about going blonde. I found this inspo pic of blonde with a fade and I'm really feeling it.

I think I have cool undertones (veins look blue/purple). Would this shade work for my skin tone or should I go for something different? Any advice on what to ask the stylist would also be super helpful!
