Arcing on a pole

Went out for dinner last night and the lights in the restaurant started flickering. Thought they should probably get their electrical checked out.

When we went outside to leave we saw the arcing on the pole nearby (fire department was already there). Can’t imagine that was good for any of the businesses nearby.

A few minutes after we drove off, we heard a loud boom. Not sure if a transformer eventually blew or what happened. Could smell it though!

Places to stay this summer

My wife and I coming out east for a wedding over in Vermont, but we have some days before and after the wedding. We're flying into Portland so looking at places to stay not too far from there (within a couple of hours).

Ideally we're looking for a nice place with an ocean view where we can relax on a deck/porch/patio, take in ocean breezes with a cocktail or 2. Not looking for a beach scene. Also not trying to break the bank (although we know summer is high season!). Prefer a few restaurants in the area, within reasonable driving distance.

For some reference, last summer we stayed for a couple of days down in Newport, RI, then a few days up in Rockport, MA. Definitely enjoyed our time in Rockport.

Some places we've considered so far - Boothbay Harbor seems to have a vibe similar to Rockport, MA, although expensive (and busy) as well. Looks like a few places up above Camden and Lincolnville that are more on the ocean? Any other suggestions?

Thanks all!

I know there have probably been a million posts like this so far lol, but I picked up a 512GB Neo (Indigo) last weekend and am now thinking I want a Pro instead. It's really wanting the nicer display - not saying that the Neo isn't nice, but being older, I want the larger and brighter display. Plus I have found that I can max out the 8GB of RAM pretty quickly, especially with lots of apps running and I don't want to have to manage closing them all the time.

It will mainly be used as a personal computer, along with a 2nd computer when I go someplace and don't want to lug my work PC around (Lenovo ThinkPad P16 - a "workstation" class tank of a laptop). The apps I would normally be running are standard MS apps (Outlook, Teams) along with Chrome and/or Edge, although trying to get used to Safari as well.

Budget is making me stick to the used/refurb market - the only things I'm sort of worried about are:

  • Battery - I assume I want something with health in the 90's at least?
  • Performance - I know in multi-core the M1 Pro beats the Neo, but single-core the Neo actually does better. Will I really notice it being somewhat slower though?
  • Shorter software support - I know eventually Apple will drop support for the M1 Pro, but I assume it will still be usable past that time? I do see tons of even older Macs out there that appear to still be used? I just assume that they don't get any new updates?

Appreciate any other suggestions - this is a person coming from Windows for over 35 years LOL.

Picked up my 512 Indigo a couple of days ago, and the only thing I'm struggling with (except for transitioning from Windows lol), is that it's so damn slippery, just like my iPhone!

Just wondering if there are any recommended types of covers/skins/etc. that would add some more grip to it?
