NAV in my opinion was a great form of Desi soft power and a breakout moment for ABCD’s. Obviously Osho and yoga being introduced to the Beatles helped normalise Desi culture where we live. Id say NAV, Sadhguru, Hasan Minhaj and Satya Nadella were the Desi icons for Gen Z.
I have a friend at work whose parents bought a hobby farm. Im just tripping out because isn’t farmland worth millions and millions of dollars and hard work to manage? She went to private school in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs and does her super through a family trust so assume they are well off but still…its the fact you can buy a farm as a side hustle while paying off a Sydney mortgage I’m struggling to process

I find places based on algorithms and word of mouth. I want to build my own original ability to find places I like and do not. For those who think they have a good taste in venues how did you figure out which places to go, what places are good. By venues it doesn’t just mean clubs but bars, third places, restaurants etc.

I personally find them attractive and confident on average (allegedly they are a more matriarchal society so they developed a tradition of more outward expression) but I find it hard to tell the difference between Desis and that’s the first time I’ve heard of people having a “thing” for a specific Desi sub group.
Fish are quite important to Bengali culture. Is it common for Bengalis to own fish as pets as well? I know for example Arabs love cats, and cats are popular pets. Marathis in India like birds. Given Bay of Bengal and Bangladesh’s riverine geography means fish are abundant, do Bangladeshis also keep fish as pets?
In North America you have a thing called YN’s. The Uk calls them roadmen. I came across a Youtube video of some guy recording Indian children outside a convenience store and the kid has his pants sagging, throwing up gang signs and he pulls out a glock (could be fake or real I’m not sure).
Is there a subculture of Indian Yn’s or nah? From what I’ve heard from my friend that lives in the GTA, Canada has a strong culture of Punjabis adopting the aesthetics of gang culture.
Ive seen online that women tourists love going to Italy and fantasise getting picked up by an Italian guy.
