Canvas outage and I have an exam due tonight

I’m kinda freaking out. I have a 100 point exam due tonight and my canvas isn’t loading due to LACCD apparently being hacked. Anyways, my professor doesn’t accept any late work and I’m worried about this maintenance check.

I’m 19, full time college student. My god, I can’t tell if my managers love me or hate me.

As I’m typing this I’m in my car because my mother and father are calling me low life trashy scum for getting a double brow piercing.

I’m 19, I have a pretty decent job for my age making 25 an hour for my campus job, I do really well in college, but I’m staying with my parents over summer break. I got a double eyebrow piercing and my mother went crazy saying she doesn’t respect me and that I’m directing her by putting holes in my face.

I’m just really distraught. You can’t even see it that well since I have bangs. I feel really awful. My friends and I love it, I love it, but my parents think it makes me look like a bum telling me they don’t want to see me again.

I don’t know how to feel, really.

I apologize if I sound pretentious, but I’m an all A student. However, this semester, I overextended myself. I enrolled in 8 classes, and my eighth class is a prerequisite for my second major. I don’t have a bad grade in that class yet, but I’m certain I won’t achieve an A. Honestly, I currently have an A, but I feel unprepared for the final exam, which constitutes 80% of my grade. I would rather receive a W than risk getting a C or lower.

My goal is to gain admission to top universities, such as UCLA, UC Berkeley, and others. I also aim to attend out-of-state colleges that are also highly regarded.

To be completely honest, do you think this single W will impact my chances of admission? I intend to retake the class next semester when I’m not as overwhelmed. I just want some really honest advice here.

Edit: I’m just worried that having a big Fat W on my transcript will hurt me more than it should. Personally, I’m OK with getting a W if it means focusing on my other classes and job, but I’ve heard split opinions about whether or not it would negatively impact me.

I’m analyzing online discourse and wanted to hear different perspectives. Reddit is highly opinionated and I’d love to of your opinions. I’ll be writing this essay and I think this might be a good place to start by hearing your perspectives!

Instructor prompt:
“In your opinion, what is the biggest cause of toxic discourse/debate on social media and the internet in general? Why is online debate so prone to logical fallacies, false information, and a lack of critical thinking? And what, if anything, do you think can be done to fix it?”
