The US (SC) vs Japan as a single mom..

Opinions and data to help me sort through everything please..

A few details:

- my family is in SC and would be willing to support my son and I for a little

- my son's father is Japanese

- I've been an English teacher in Japan and would continue that

- my degree is in communications and I had a very hard time getting a job in the US out of uni

- I have endometriosis and suspect I will need surgery for it in the future (my mother did)

- otherwise my son and I have no large medical issues at the moment

I'll add any other details that come up in the comments

29[F4R]#online #japan? #us? Looking for someone consistent to talk to and grow close

First, about my situation as I'm sure that will be a deal breaker for a lot... I'm married and in this weird separation phase (we're waiting until baby is 1yo before making any divorce related decisions), have a baby (the absolute cutest objectively speaking), currently live in Japan (but am unsure if I will stay as it has been so lonely and difficult postpartum), and I tend to message sporadically (basically when my son is sleeping) throughout the day.

Okay now about me ✨

I'm originally from the US and have been in Japan 6 years teaching. I don't have much time for hobbies bc of the baby but I used to love drawing/painting, cooking, and walks.

I'm not super into video games, but casually played Mario kart and animal crossing on switch.

I like kpop (not a super fan but enjoy it), rock, rap, alternative, punk, country, but also am the type to listen to almost anything honestly 😂

In uni I was very into Marvel, Star Wars, and watched some anime, but after moving to Japan fell out of that sphere.

I LOVE animals and animal facts! I'm the type to go on a Google spiral reading about something 😂

I really like crafty stuff, gardening (tho it's hard in my apartment), politics, and history.

I'm pretty chatty once I'm comfortable. It can be a bit hard for me to find an interesting topic to start now (I'm blaming it on new mom brain) but I promise I'm fun to talk to if you like random trains of thought type conversations 👏🏻

A bit heavy, but I honestly don't seem my husband and I working through all this and me staying in Japan as a single parent.. I'd really love someone to just grow close with and support each other. That could be friendship forever or possibly be open to more, but I also know mentally/emotionally I'm not in a place for anything romantic right now with all the stress in my life...

Feel free to message me saying hi and let's try chatting here for a bit before moving somewhere more comfortable ☺️💛

I'm from the US and my family likes to send money occasionally for me/my son for Christmas/birthdays. Originally I was using Cashapp but it's not supported in Japan and my card will be expiring here soon anyways.

Do y'all have any recommendations for apps to transfer money? Something I can use online (rankuten etc) or irl (tap to pay would be fine).

So far PayPal is the only thing that comes to mind, but wanted to check if anyone has any other/better options.

Thank you!
