5 weeks in Norfolk for work, what I'd do differently for housing next time

Just got back from a pretty long work assignment in Norfolk. First time spending that much time there and I had no idea what to expect housing wise going in.

First week I was in an extended stay hotel and it was exactly as grim as it sounds. Small, noisy, no real kitchen, and I was eating out every single night which adds up fast. Switched to a furnished rental through sojourn for the remaining 4 weeks and honestly wish I'd done it from the start.

The difference was just having an actual place. A kitchen I could cook in, a couch that wasn't bolted to the wall, and enough space to decompress after work. Nothing flashy but everything worked and it was clean. The area was walkable too which mattered more than I expected for that length of stay.

The one thing I'll say is don't wait until you're already there to figure out housing. I wasted time and money on the hotel situation because I didn't sort it out in advance. If you're heading to Norfolk for anything longer than 2 weeks, look into furnished rentals before you go, not after.

AI companion apps you can talk to not just text

Most ai companion apps are still text based which is interesting because human communication is mostly nonverbal and tone based. Stripping all of that out and reducing a relationship to typing seems like a weird limitation that nobody questions.

There's a handful that do voice now and even fewer that do video. The voice ones feel like an improvement because tone carries so much context that words alone miss, but they're still one dimensional since the AI can't see you.

The only platform I've found doing real two-way video where it actually reads your expressions and tone during the conversation is tavus. Not just video playing at you, it picks up on visual and audio input at the same time and the responses reflect that. Conversations feel qualitatively different from text or voice only.

The question I keep coming back to is whether multimodal interaction is the future for all companion AI or if text stays dominant because it's lower friction. Video requires you to be present in a way that text doesn't and I'm not sure everyone wants that from an ai companion. But for people who want depth over convenience the gap is enormous.

Lower abs exercises seem popular but do they actually target that area effectively?

A few days ago I am seeing many exercises for lower abs and I just pause like okay this look very focused honestly. Every routine claim to target that one specific area, which make it feel very direct. But at the same time, I start thinking if the body really work like that. It feel simple but also a bit confusing.

Now I am thinking if lower abs exercises actually isolate that area or not. I usualy think workouts affect multiple muscles together so this feel little diffrent to me. Moves like leg raises or reverse crunches are often mentioned, but I am also wondering how much control we really have over specific sections. Some days ago I am not really thinking about this but now it feel interesting.

Then I think about consistency. Maybe it not just about one exercise, but a mix of routine, diet, and time. It feel like people expect quick results, but the process is more gradual. That change how I see these workouts.

Later I am laying and scrolling random stuff, checking many options on alibaba and even fitness tools related to abs. Some look very promising honestly. Now I am thinking if its more about doing things regularly or just finding the perfect exercise.
