Is this worth being upset over?

Me (29F) and BF (31M) have been together for 15 months and have been seeing each other for over 2 years. This week I got mad at him for the first time ever over something he did behind my back he knew was wrong to keep from me.

After we talked that through he made a comment about how he’s been keeping our relationship together through all the challenges I’ve been going thru since he met me. Mind you I have gone thru a lot of turbulence in my personal life since we’ve been together and I get this will wear a partner down.

He then said “You know I’m really picky and if we met earlier and I knew how much you had going on I probably wouldn’t have dated you”.

This has been repeating in my head over the last 24 hours and I’m genuinely hurt over it. Like I get it feels like he’s seen me thru a lot more downs than ups but did you have to say that to my face? Now I’m wondering if he’s reaching his limit and not being direct with me about it.

I want to bring this up to him when I see him tomorrow and share how this hurt me. I also want to temperature check because I refuse to be in another relationship where someone secretly resents me or is actually unhappy being with me but won’t leave.

Part of me wants to end things over it but I may be overreacting. He’s overall a wonderful man and a gem but that comment really hurt me.

I’m 29F and born and raised in Fontana but I’ve never worked a job in the IE. I’ve worked remotely for different health care companies throughout California. I worked in person jobs in San Diego when I lived there before and during the pandemic.

I’ve been struggling with finding another remote job or just any type of job since my last contract ended in January. I’m looking for a job in health care operations or health tech but all the better paying options are in LA or OC. I really don’t want to do that commute everyday.

I feel like a lot of people in the IE either commute out of the IE for work or work in service industry or education system within the IE. Is this true? I really don’t know where to look for work here that actually pays decently.

Note: when I say IE I’m talking about my part of the IE like Fontana-Rancho-Ontario-Rialto- and all the cities heading east towards San Bernardino

Edit: I have a BS in Public Health. I do not plan on getting a masters in this economy. I’m working on multiple tech and project management certifications. Health care IT is the goal. I honestly need a survival job. I’ve been unemployed since start of February 2026.

My previous contract ended on 1/28/2026 and I’ve been aggressively searching since the start of the new year. I’ve had 5 interviews so far but mainly rejections and no responses.

I need to change up my search tactics for May but could use some feedback.

I’ve been working in health care operations/ administrative roles since 2019 (care coordination, case management, health navigation, project coordination) and I’m looking to step into health tech roles (implementation specialist, onboarding specialist)

Jan-March:

• I was pretty much applying to any role that I felt I fit the job description. A whole bunch of random titles. I also was tailoring my resume to each JD. I only landed 1 interview out of the many roles I applied to • The other 2 interviews I had during this time were because 1) recruiter from my previous company connected me to a role 2) recruiter on LinkedIn reached out to me • During this time someone I paid was applying for roles for me using a master resume. Out of 100 apps they put in only 1 company responded • This company interviews me for 2 different roles then puts hiring on hold

April: • I decided to target my search towards Implementation Specialist roles or similar titles • I’ve been using a master resume tailored to this specific role title • No responses so far and it’s the end of the month
• I’ve tried networking on LinkedIn but it’s hasn’t really led anywhere

Please keep in mind I’ve been targeting remote and hybrid roles. I live in the suburbs 50+ miles outside LA and I don’t have many in person options unless I want to drive 80+ miles/ day for work everyday. Not really sure what else to do. I’m giving up hope.
