So sieht 1 Jahr Faulheit aus

Hey Leute,

Anbei mein Garten.

Tips and Strategies for organic growth

Hi,

quick background information:

  • I launched my 1st app approx 1 month ago
  • it has a hard paywall (weekly and annual plan), so for me not the amount of downloads is crucial, but the amount of subscriptions
  • I managed to achieve 300$ organically (MRR $50, nothing serious) so far just through posts on Reddit... but my posts are getting removed by Reddit for a while, so I cannot really promote my app organically anymore. I tried a second account, but also this account is affected by the shadowban.
  • I also made posts on Facebook groups, but Facebook didnt really work for me
  • I dont want to be dependent on one channel only, hence Id like to know what other channels works good for you.
  • I will start to promote my app soon to scale it, but for now I would like to hear organic growth strategies.

Really looking forward to your suggestions.

Most habit apps only track whether you did something or not.
But for me personally, that was never enough.

So I built an app that breaks bigger goals down into daily habits and visually shows whether you’re:

• ahead
• on track
• or behind

For example, I started a personal challenge to walk 5 million steps by March 2027.

Seeing:
- my current progress
- the average steps/day needed
- and whether I’m ahead or behind

has genuinely helped me stay consistent long-term.

It turns abstract goals into something that feels measurable and achievable day by day.

I started casually sharing the app in different Reddit communities and honestly didn’t expect the response… but within a short time quite a few people became paying users because they liked the simplicity and visual progress aspect as much as I do.

Would love to hear your thoughts or feedback.

Hey everyone,

quick update from my last post (was at ~500k steps a month ago). I’m now at around 900k total 👍

Goal is 5M steps in a year and I’m actually pretty ahead rn, so feeling confident I’ll make it if I keep this pace (see pic)

All thanks to my walking pad … makes it super easy to stay consistent, esp on lazy/bad weather days when I’d normally skip.

Still using the O’Yeet walking pad btw, works really well so far.

Let’s see how it goes 💯

quick intro for anyone new:
I started a challenge in March to walk 5,000,000 steps in 1 year and I’m currently at ~900k steps

Fun fact… this is what my foot looks like every time I’m on vacation 😂

I was just in Italy and averaged ~19k steps a day (last post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/walking/s/2zyWJGs9vu)

somehow I always end up walking way more when traveling, but as soon as I’m back home… the average drops a bit 😅

anyone else?

what helps me stay consistent is tracking my steps and having a clear visual of the goal… seeing where I stand makes a big difference

also a nice side effect since I started: down 4kg (92 → 88 kg)

do your steps also spike on vacation or are you consistent year-round?

Hey, quick intro for anyone new:
I started a challenge in March to walk 5,000,000 steps in 1 year

currently at 877k steps (18% progress)

detailed stats:

• 15.6k steps yesterday
• ~877.4k total
• 312 days left
• ~13.2k/day needed
• still ahead 💪

Yesterday we explored Naples… including the famous Maradona spot ⚽️

also got to see Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius nearby. crazy to witness that history up close 🌋

and of course, had to try an original Neapolitan pizza
what can I say… you have to try it at least once 🍕

unfortunately, my last day in Italy, but I will be back soon

arrivederci 👋

quick intro for anyone new:
I started a challenge in March to walk 5,000,000 steps in 1 year

I’m currently at 861k steps (17% done, long way to go)

Current stats:

• 19k+ steps today
• ~861k total walked since March
• 313 days left
• ~13.2k/day needed
• still ahead of the curve 💯

for those asking: tracking my steps with Apple Fitness (pic 4) + using the 1% Habit Tracker for the visual goal tracking (pic 3)

today was all about the Amalfi Coast… more specifically Positano

a lot of stairs and steep paths, definitely felt it 😅
but also… a lot of tiramisu + ice cream, so it balanced out

Positano itself is beautiful, small coastal spot with great restaurants
surprisingly busy for this time of year and yeah… a bit pricey, but still worth it for a day trip

anyone else been to Positano or Amalfi?

sightseeing in Rome continued today… with perfect weather we finally visited the Colosseum, which was definitely a highlight

later in the evening we drove down to the Amalfi Coast (3.5 hrs drive) and added a few more steps there

Italy really is something else… beautiful, full of history, delicious food and 100% worth a trip 🇮🇹

quick update:

• still ahead of the curve 🫡

as always, tracking the steps with Apple Fitness + the 1% Habit Tracker for the visual goal tracking (since many asked)

this time the steps were collected in Rome 🇮🇹

for anyone who hasn’t been here yet… huge recommendation. the city has so much charm and character, historic buildings everywhere and the food alone is worth the trip

honestly one of those places where hitting high step counts just happens naturally

what’s a city where you easily hit your highest step count without even trying?

been building an app for ~5 months now

had moments where i thought it’s not going anywhere, the launch took longer than expected

but lately seeing real traction + first conversions coming in

truly feels good to see it moving

if you’re working on something, keep going 💯

what are you building right now?

Current stats

• 20k+ steps today

• ~804k total

• 316 days left

• ~13.2k/day needed

• currently ahead of the curve

finally crossed the 800k mark today 🎉

weather was great, got a long walk in and my three cats actually joined me for part of it… easily the highlight of the day 😅

these are the kind of days that make the whole journey feel worth it

tracking the steps with Apple Health + monitor my goal with the 1% Habit Tracker (since many asked)

do you also track your steps or just go by feeling?

Hey. quick intro:

I started a challenge in March to walk 5,000,000 steps in 1 year

currently in beautiful Boracay / Philippines 🇵🇭 (see pic), and yesterday was a great day…14k+ steps

that pushed me to ~700k total steps now (within ~6 weeks)

one thing I didn’t expect: walking on sand is exhausting as hell 😅

feels like every step takes a bit more effort

but at the same time, walking has really become part of my daily routine now

it’s not even a question anymore if I go or not

current stats:

• ~697.7k steps

• 326 days left

• ~4.3M to go

• ~13.2k/day needed

still ahead overall 💪

crazy how just showing up every day keeps pushing this forward

cheers 💯

Road to 5M Steps in a year… daily updates until I get there.

quick update:

• 14k steps today

• ~784k total

• still ahead of the curve

weather was perfect again, got a long walk in, cleared my head a bit and added some extra steps around the day

tracking the steps with Apple Health + the 1% Habit Tracker (since many still ask)

not every day needs to be extreme… just showing up daily is what moves the needle

let’s keep it going 💯

quick intro for anyone new:

I started a challenge in March to walk 5,000,000 steps in 1 year

today: only 8k+ steps… below average again

current stats:

• ~754.7k steps

• 320 days left

• ~13.2k/day needed

still ahead overall

but here’s the twist:

I got a walking pad 🚶🏻‍♂️

no more “I was sitting all day” excuses

still feels a bit weird walking during calls

but I started stacking steps before and after meetings

and honestly… it already feels like a cheat code

this just made 5M feel a lot more realistic … hopefully 😅

btw since a lot of ppl keep asking:

I track the steps with Apple Fitness and log the overall goal in the 1% Habit Tracker (honestly a real motivation boost for me!)

anyone else using a walking pad or thinking about getting one? 💭
