Just bought used guitar. Should that ribbon be showing? Also should the bridge/saddle be straight?

Newbie. Just bought this used from GC. My old tele the metal part.. what is this piece called? Just the saddle? They are at different levels. This used guitar they are all straight. Should they be so straight like this?

Also Im such a beginner that idk if I’m nitpicking or if it’s an actual issue. The pic circled has that ribbon appearing. But the bridge pickup is fine. Should it look that way? Thank you!!

Newbie here, I have on hold at GC a semi-hollow telecaster with dual humbuckers (seymour duncans) + a capacitor added to the tone pot. Is this a good choice for me?

I posted on the guitar sub so sorry if you came across it already. I didnt get much feedback but probably my fault for not adding much detail to that post.

I know one of the most important things with buying a guitar is to just go and play it. See how it feels. Which is why I have this on hold. But in the meantime I wanted to get some opinions on here about a few things.

I want to play Tool on the guitar. The guitar on hold is a Squier Classic Vibe '70s Telecaster Thinline Semi Hollow. Im going to be honest and say something very ignorant - I do not know much about the pickups, but I hear everywhere that seymour duncan brand pickups are VERY good. Because of this, I guess my brain defaults to if I see seymour duncans on a used guitar then its a huge bonus. ....But is that really the case? One of the 2 comments I got on the guitar subreddit said "any humbuckers would do". I guess I kind of figured this was a good deal/package for $340 but now Im wondering if it really is. Im going tomorrow to check out the guitar.

Also, is there anything I should know in advance about a semi-hollow guitar? Do you have to make sure those are stored a certain way? Is there a difference in the longevity of those compared to a solid body? Its another topic I have no idea about. Does the capacitor change things in a positive way?

I just started learning to play the guitar in October when I was given a free guitar by someone I know. Its a squier telecaster with 2 single coils. I was forewarned the output jack was a bit wonky/ loose. No biggie. But after recently changing the strings for the first time myself, I found out the truss rod nut is stripped or worn. The allen wrench isnt grabbing the nut to give the neck some much needed relief. Its a mess right now trying to hammer on the 12th fret. I know there are ways to fix it but with this + the output jack issue, Im starting to think at this point, it might be better to just get a new guitar.

I just replaced the strings on this and trying to do a setup for the first time. When I go to adjust the truss rod nut, it doesnt feel like it’s turning at all.

Im unsure to tell if it’s bad, stripped or broken

This is my first time doing a guitar set up. Just looking for confirmation Im understanding all this correctly so far.

I looked up the specs on my Squier Affinity Telecaster electric guitar with the serial number and the closest thing I see on par with numbers similar to neck radius looks to be fingerboard radius. If that’s the case, the ideal neck relief number for my tele is .010 according to these pics, right? I bought the music nomad gauges (pic 3) so I’d be using the classical guitar feeler gauge, right?

I did watch some of Music Nomads YT video on the guitar set up. I know he specifically said their truss rod gauges are just common measurements but isnt a one size fits all type deal. But still feels like a big “jump” from their standard for an electric go mine.

EDIT/ TDLR: This video is even better at showing the wrap around im talking about at timestamp 1:49 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwO--mGfxk4

i see lots of these wrap arounds but my strings dont do that they dont really "wrap" they pretty much resist and want to come back up and over the peg if that makes sense

---------------------------------------

This is my very first time stringing an electric guitar. I know everyone goes through certain difficulties with it.

I KNOW these questions are asked a million times a week. I really hope this group is a bit more kind than the last sub i tried to post in and deleted. Ive been trying to add new strings since Sunday and Im getting really frustrated and depressed over this. This is my third time ordering strings from amazon. This time i bought a pack of three.

I see so many videos like this one below where they wrap the string around the peg EFFORTLESSLY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opmg6lK8FkY

None of my strings (even the lighter ones) wrap around the peg easily (i bought 10-52s ernie ball top heavy). I have to really put a lot of force and pressure to try and bend it a bit to wrap around and its still not done that well. Then when it doesnt wrap up around the peg well, I try to unwind and rewind but the kinks kind of mess up the whole process. And i have trouble straightening back out the wire to re-do the wrap.

What am i doing wrong? Any tips or pointers?
