How tf do I achieve such a tone

Even the big yahu is impressed by meshuggahs bass tone. Included 2 samples.

Basically, im thinking about buying a bass to actually record songs by myself fully without backing tracks. Current gear: whole neural library being fed live into a 4x12 cab(so no cab sim for me) or if I REALLY need to headphones also.

Anyways, how can I achieve such a bass tone? I heard of people eqing before amps, eqing after, gain staging, overdrive, all those different cool special words. It is such a big rabbit hole ans sounds so confusing eith all these different techniques and alllthat. I know basically nothing of all that, all I do is just plug my 8 string into the nameless, crank the gain and it sounds good enough(while we're at it how do I get a good djent-y guitar tone)? I played for like 10 years but always just on random amps and gear my dad had laying around and I ALWAYS sounded like shit. How do I even start to shape and form my tone?

Upgrading from a beginner Strat: Classic Vibe 50s or go offset (Jaguar/Mustang)

Currently I have a Strinberg EGS 216, I've been playing it for about a year, and I want to change guitars because my current one buzzes on the sixth string, goes out of tune very easily with bends, has little sustain, etc. I even took it to a luthier, had the frets leveled, set up, and put a Little HH777 in the bridge, but it still doesn't satisfy me with the sound. My current setup is: Meteoro 35GS, BOSS DS2, Small Clone, and TM300. I mainly play Nirvana most of the time, but I'm interested in and really want to learn Hendrix (I play Hey Joe and Purple Haze), jazz, some Michael Jackson riffs, etc.

I'm undecided whether to buy a Squier Classic Vibe 50 Stratocaster, or a Jaguar or a Mustang (Classic Vibes).

I really like Nirvana's sound, but I think I'll get tired of it eventually, and I'm afraid that if I choose the Jaguar or the Mustang I might regret it because they might not sound as good for the other styles I want to play. But at the same time, I think I already have a Stratocaster and I should get an offset now that I'm going to evolve my guitar playing. I don't know, I'm very undecided, which is why I came to Reddit to gather opinions.

1982 Stratocaster Sapphire Blue w Gold plating - Approximate Value

Hi everyone, my dad has this 1982 Stratocaster Sapphire Blue with gold plating

It’s in good condition, and we’re trying to figure out what it might be worth

We’ve done some research but haven’t found much information about this exact model, so any insight would really help!

*My dad says it’s American, but people on facebook told me it might be Japanese. I don’t really know much about guitars, so I’d really appreciate it if you could help clear that up for me

Weird sympathetic resonance / doubled pitch on 12th & 14th fret G string, anyone experienced this?

Hey all. I have a solid body LP style guitar and I've noticed a strange phenomenon on the 12th and 14th fret of the G string specifically. When I hit those notes hard I hear what sounds like a minor second doubling the note — almost like a ghost pitch alongside the fundamental.

The weird part is how conditional it is:

  • Only happens on the bridge pickup
  • Only with hard attack — soft playing it disappears completely
  • Only on a cranked Marshall emulation with specific EQ and mic placement settings
  • Adding a Tube Screamer makes it disappear entirely
  • Turning down the bright channel volume on the amp sim makes it disappear
  • Clean signal — totally gone
  • Unplugged the guitar sounds beautiful on those frets

Took it to a tech and the setup is clean. Intonation checks out fine on a clip-on tuner.

My current theory is sympathetic resonance from the G string saddle being excited above an activation threshold by hard attack, then amplified by the presence peak in the Marshall emulation. But I'm not certain.

Has anyone experienced this on an LP style guitar? Is it the saddle? Tailpiece height? Just an inherent characteristic of a resonant LP style guitar interacting with certain amp settings? Any fixes that worked for you?

Where to find guitar music and tabs for it?

Where can I find music that only requires the guitar. Most of the songs on sites like songsterr require a whole band + vocals to be played. I just want to be able to pick up a guitar and play a song from start to finish without needing any backing tracks. Where can I find music like that and tabs for them?

Adding pickups to vintage guitars

Recently I bought a vintage Alvarez guitar and I love everything about it and today I was looking online and bought another one that I think was made around the same time. But I was wondering if yall think it’d be a waste to add a pickup to a vintage guitar. Like would it ruin it or should I just not gaf and do what I want ?

First one I bought a couple weeks ago. The second one I want to add a pickup on

Buzzing on electric guitars

So I have 2 electric guitars that buzz when I fret them. I have a notches straight edge and they both have slight forward bow. The catch is I use a 74-12 on one and 70-12 on the other. ( drop A# and C standard ) the strings are not balanced, 74,44,32-. This is how my favorite guitarist does his strings but I can not figure out why I’m getting buzzing. Any advice would be appreciated
