Tar and gravel, not on edge

Tar and gravel, not on edge

I have a shared roof and my neighbours roof does not have gravel on the edge like mine.

Why would one roof have it and the other not? My neighbours roof has cracks on the edge and wants me to pitch to replace the roof.

The gravel makes it damn near impossible to check for cracks. So I'm wondering how I could figure out if it needs to be replaced.

What're some methods to check? We bought our house around the same time and have no history from the previous owners. What're the risks if he replaces only his side? I don't know how the seam would be sealed unless it's all done together

Won't Spin with blades

Hampton Bay 520C10, guy it free from a guy who's trustworthy and said it was working

I know the starting cap is dead and I need to replace it because without the blades if I give it a gentle push it'll take off. Without me spinning it, it will not take off.

Once I add the blades, no matter the initial spin I can give it by hand, the fan comes to a halt.

My assumption is that the starting cap shouldn't be used after starting, but now I'm trying to figure out if it does more than the initial kick start? Why could a ceiling fan not spin with minimal load (blades)?

▲ 17 r/solar

I live in a semi detached with a flat roof. I love the idea of solar and I've used it to power a 12v motorcycle battery and fairy lights before.

Now I have a house with much more roof area, but honestly not sure what to do with the energy given I don't want to invest in inverters and big batteries.

What are some things you guys would use solar for in the city with all 4 seasons? And what wattage panel

I'm looking at getting my red seal, as an EE, so I can do some hands-on work and also have the option of side work if I want a break from engineering.

Do these people get any different jobs than a journeyman? Is it a PITA to work with an ex engineer?

I was told by a local electrician that

code < inspector < engineer

When it comes to getting things approved. I'm hoping with my eng designation, if I get a red seal I can just make myself more marketable for a new build construction company or something like that

Thoughts?
