Help idk when to start talking to a army recruiter

So here’s my timeline. I turned 17 this June and I start my senior year in July. I’m planning to talk to a recruiter around July or August, but I’m worried that might be too early since I can’t officially ship out until after I graduate in June 2027.

I know I want to do active duty with a 4-year contract, and I’ve always had the urge to join the military, I’m just not sure what job I want yet. I was thinking maybe 92A, but I’m still exploring options.

One thing I’m really worried about is the ASVAB. I took a practice test from an Air Force recruiter and got a 9. Math is my biggest struggle. I honestly forgot most of it, and whenever math comes up my mind just blanks. I do have the ASVAB for Dummies book, but I’m not really good at learning from books, especially because I have an IEP and sometimes it takes me longer to understand things.

I’m also 5’5 and around 180 lbs, and I’m working on getting myself ready physically too.

I really want to join right after high school and leave as early as possible. I guess I’m just scared that if I talk to a recruiter too early, they’ll just tell me to study more and stop contacting me. Has anyone else been in a similar situation or have advice?

What should I do with my hair? It’s really dry and frizzy, and whenever I brush it, it gets super poofy. My hair also used to feel thicker, but lately it feels like more hair has been falling out and it feels thinner/lighter. I’ve been thinking about getting a haircut, maybe layers, and dyeing it chocolate brown or a lighter brown, but I’m not sure yet. Also my hairline has been looking thinner and I’m only 16, so it’s been stressing me out. Any advice?

I’ve been struggling a lot with studying for the ASVAB and could really use some advice.

I have the ASVAB for Dummies book, but honestly I feel pretty lost trying to read it. I’m focusing on the four main sections (Arithmetic Reasoning, Math Knowledge, Word Knowledge, and Paragraph Comprehension), but math is my biggest problem.

I only know very basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), and even with those I sometimes get confused. I don’t really understand math rules or when to use them, so when I open the book, I don’t even know where to start.

If you were bad at math too, what did you do that actually helped you improve your ASVAB score? Did you follow the book in order, or skip around? What sections or pages should I start with first?

Also, if you have any simple study methods or tips that worked for you, I’d really appreciate it.
