I’ve been struggling a lot with studying for the ASVAB and could really use some advice.

I have the ASVAB for Dummies book, but honestly I feel pretty lost trying to read it. I’m focusing on the four main sections (Arithmetic Reasoning, Math Knowledge, Word Knowledge, and Paragraph Comprehension), but math is my biggest problem.

I only know very basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), and even with those I sometimes get confused. I don’t really understand math rules or when to use them, so when I open the book, I don’t even know where to start.

If you were bad at math too, what did you do that actually helped you improve your ASVAB score? Did you follow the book in order, or skip around? What sections or pages should I start with first?

Also, if you have any simple study methods or tips that worked for you, I’d really appreciate it.

My recruiter will get back to me on Monday and I'll schedule out for Meps. To be honest I took a practice test and math in general is my weakest link everything else like science was not as bad but not great, mechanical didn't know much, so forth and English I was okish it was a small practice test I took and my first one I think my score was 27 or something around there. I'm trying to aim for the best possible score I haven't made a job dream list for don't know if I should do that then study or what.. I'm looking to study with someone actaully i am a huge over thinker and shallow advice doesn't work well for me. Trying to come up with some plan I can do, maybe a relative timeline before giong to meps like 6 weeks or something, I've watched a few videos from grammar hero on fractions but there is so many vidoes and so much stuff and details I have to study I feel as tho I'm pacing super slow, poeple just say to study what u need too and give shallow advice. I'm looking to receive some actual guidance if possible. Warm regards
