🐾 💔🐾

My name is Maci. I’m approximately 12–13 years old, and I am running out of time.

I spent years as a breeding dog. When I was no longer profitable, I was sold on Craigslist — with the wrong age listed, like the details of my life didn’t even matter.

I have mammary tumors. I move slower, and I have accidents sometimes. My body is tired from a lifetime of giving.

And my current owner has decided he no longer wants me because of it. He has said he wants to put me to sleep.

I don’t want to die. Not yet.

I am still gentle. I am still trusting. I still wag my tail. I just need someone to choose me — maybe for the first time in my life.

A rescue in Iowa — Forever Wildlife Lodge & Clinic — has said yes to Maci. They will take her in, care for her, and give her the peaceful retirement she has never had. The only barrier is getting her from Las Vegas to Iowa.

Please help her get there.

🐾❤️LOOKING FOR TRANSPORTATION! ❤️🙏🏻

Urgent need for a foster home for Shadow

My living situation has changed, and I am unable to keep my buddy with me. I am hoping this is temporary, but Can someone please help me home him? I will pay for his food and treats. He is a loving guy, playful, intelligent, a bit bossy but wants pets and cuddles.

He’s two years old, so has become more mellow

! Shelter Stress Is Escalating

Recent kennel behavior shows clear deterioration due to confinement stress:

Growling, barking when approached

Lunging at kennel door

Snapping when attempts are made to pet

Hyper, overstimulated, highly vocal

These are classic signs of kennel stress, not necessarily reflective of behavior outside the shelter. He previously did well enough to be co-housed and participate in playgroup.

Do Medical

Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped Flea treated, dewormed, preventatives

given

Heartworm negative

QAR (quiet, alert, responsive)

Playgroup History

Social and tolerant of other dogs

Participates in gentle play

• Timid but allows polite greetings

Previously co-housed (separated after an

altercation of unknown cause)

What Takeo Needs

Takeo urgently needs:

A foster, adopter, or rescue to decompress A calm environment outside the kennel Structure and patience while he settles

He is showing the very common pattern of a young, social dog mentally declining in a loud shelter environment.

There are 30 of them in this post.

And that’s exactly why some of them won’t be seen.

Not because they aren’t good dogs.

Not because they don’t deserve a chance.

But because people scroll too fast.

There is no euthanasia list on March 27 and 28.

But we all know what usually happens after that.

The dogs who have been here the longest…

the quiet ones, the overlooked ones…

they are the ones who end up on the next list.

Right now, they are not there yet.

And that matters more than anything.

Please take a moment and go through every single photo.

Don’t stop at the first one.

Don’t stop halfway.

Somewhere in this group, there may be a dog meant for you.

Or a dog that someone you know has been looking for.

But they can only be chosen if they are truly seen.

If you can foster or adopt, this is the time to act.

Email BARC now and include the dog’s ID.

A rescue can only step in if someone opens their home first.

If you can’t foster, you can still help in a powerful way.

Spend time on each dog.

Swipe until the end.

Share the post.

That simple action is what gives them visibility.

That is what gives them a chance before it becomes urgent.

HOW TO HELP

If you can foster or adopt, email BARC immediately and include the dog’s ID

barcfoster@houstontx.gov

barcadoptions@houstontx.gov

BARC.Aid@houstontx.gov

Holds must be placed in writing

Email the shelter first. Always.

These dogs are still in the “before.”

Before the list.

Before the urgency.

What happens next depends on who takes the time to see them today

Art needs help now, he’s only 33 lbs and 8 yrs old, can we find a local foster?

Tiny 8 year old Art came to us as part of a case. This 33 Ib grandpa sat on hold. He waited and waited.

When we finally took him out on a cold day to put a little jacket on him, he politely let us know he wasn't ready to go back inside. He wanted to say hi. He wanted to connect. He wanted to show us that he still has so much personality left to give.

He hasn't been to playgroup but he previously lived on a property with many other dogs.

Art walks on two legs when he's excited.

He holds hands.

He seeks affection.

He is 8 years old. He has been through more than we'll ever know. And now... he's available.
