ub miles visa signature and bdo amex explorer

Hi!

Recently got a UnionBank Miles+ Visa Signature. Also currently have the BDO AMEX Explorer. I’m trying to figure out the best way to optimize both instead of having overlapping use cases.

Features:
UnionBank Miles+ Visa Signature — ₱48 = 1 mile, ~3.5% forex
BDO American Express Explorer — ₱30 = 1 mile, ~1.85% forex

Naiisip kong current game plan:
- AMEX Explorer for foreign/overseas spend (better earn + lower forex)
- UB Miles+ for PayDirect
- and then use whichever kung alin ang may promo

For local everyday spend (dining, groceries, shopping, utilities), what’s the best way to split usage?

Would appreciate any advice! most esp from those running a similar setup (maintaining two or more miles cards). Thanks!

May 6 - applied for a credit card l
May 8 - noticed that a virtual card of the card i applied for has been added to my list of accounts sa UB online app

however until now, no email yet of approval or even text. just want to ask if the fact na may virtual card na sa app ko means approved na ako? and if yes, does it really happen na late lang notif/email/text of approval?

Hi! Will be traveling from US to Manila with a 10hr layover in Taipei. PH passport holder. Just want to ask if there is anything I need to secure/prepare in advance before I am able to leave the airport and roam around the city before my Taipei-Manila flight? Or do I just have to clear immigration as usual, since Filipinos are still visa-free until July 2026?

Thanks! :)

I’m stuck in a classic tech dilemma and would appreciate some perspective.

I’m traveling to the US this June — Apple products are noticeably cheaper there compared to where I’m from. I’ve been eyeing the Apple Watch Ultra 3, and this feels like a good opportunity to finally pull the trigger.

That said, I’m hesitating for a couple of reasons:
- There’s always the possibility of a new release around September. No guarantee there will be an Ultra 4, but Apple’s release cycle is… predictable enough to make me second guess.
- If I skip now, I’ll be in Japan early next year, which is another chance to buy at a lower price than back home.

So I’m weighing:
Buy Ultra 3 now in June (cheaper + immediate use)
Wait for a potential Ultra 4 announcement in September
Or just delay everything and buy in Japan next year
For context: I don’t need it urgently, but I’ve wanted one for a while (fitness tracking, general ecosystem convenience, etc.).

Would you:
A) Buy now and enjoy it
B) Wait for September and see what drops
C) Hold off entirely and just buy in Japan next year

Curious how you guys approach this especially those who’ve been burned (or rewarded) by waiting for the next model. Any insight is welcome! 🤗
