Are Young Players Finally Going to Get a Chance?

We all are heartbroken over the loss yesterday. However, I still see a silver lining: I would like KKR to do what CSK did last year. Sign exciting young players and revamp this team.

Nayar is said to have an encyclopedic knowledge of Indian cricketers, so it shouldn't be hard to find players who can solve our middle order batting and fast bowling issues.

I am some weeks into PMO recovery, and while I have experienced some of the less bizarre benefits (lol), my biggest revelation was understanding that pornography addiction is nothing more than a means to temporarily escape from worldly problems like boredom, anxiety etc.

Contrary to the lies being propagated online, PMO is not a way to "relax" or "an outlet for active individuals".

Since the start of this journey, I have continued to experience bouts of anxiety. I learned that this is common effect as the brain is distressed due to the lack of dopamine. I was advised by fellow NoFappers and health practitioners to understand the root cause of my urges:

  1. When and why do they appear?
  2. How does it go away?

Answering these questions made it evident that I used PMO as a means to escape from putting in the hard yards to achieve something spectacular. I would fool myself into thinking I achieved something by releasing large amounts of dopamine from PMO.

A sure-shot way of quitting PMO is telling yourself that you put your life on hold every time you relapse. This way, an urge will seem like sacrificing your relationship, career etc. and will veer you away from watching explicit material and ejaculating.

I agree that Rahane may not be the best choice for captaincy. But I just love Morgan's positivity and how he backs KKR all the time. We need someone like him to get back to winning ways.

I don't have much to add. It appears as though the latest Lego Batman game is being marketed toward Arkham fans, and I think Rocksteady's direction for their next single-player game may depend on this game's sales and reviews.

Firstly, it is not my intention to offend anyone with this post. There is no fixed way to enjoy a title, and everyone should be free to play games in whatever way they find most enjoyable.

My post stems from a place of curiosity, and I wanted to pick the brains of people who seem to explicitly rush through video games. This means simply going from objective to objectives sometimes without fully understanding the story.

If you are someone who has done this, may I ask why? Is it because you'd like to experience as many new titles as possible in a calendar year? Or perhaps you have played many games and have developed an intuition for what will happen next, and therefore feel bored?

I find myself on the opposite end of this spectrum. I try to squeeze every last drop out of the games I play and consume all the content a game has to offer. This includes readables, side missions, and exploring open-world maps from end to end. This makes things excruciatingly slow at times (for example, exploration is tedious if there is verticality).

The reason I mentioned my style of playing is that I don't have too much time on my hands, but I still prefer playing this way. It means I will get through fewer titles, but I'm not sure that lack of time is a fully valid reason to rush through them.

Thanks!

Over the past few days, I've been needing a lot less food to feel satiated and sometimes skip meals entirely.

When I tried searching about in on the community, I found a few very old post with a dearth of comments. Is there new evidence regarding the correlation between the two? Does anyone here have similar stories?

Thanks!

I still can't digest the fact that KKR let go of such a young and talented player like Ambrish. To add fuel to the fire, I wouldn't be surprised if he starts tomorrow in place of someone like Praful Hinge.

Hey everyone,

Please don't ridicule or turn down my post but I am seriously seeking guidance on how I should approach telling my parents that I'm a few weeks into PMO recovery.

If it helps, I am from a South-Asian family with very decent parents. The topic of pornography and sex education in general is considered taboo here.

My question is: How should I reveal to my parents that I have been consuming pornographic material and masturbating for an extended period of time? My motivation for doing so is because PMO has hindered my ability to be the best version of myself. I want to make them proud one day and let them know that this addiction and its scientific reasons (dopamine deluge which prevented me from rewarding hard work in the real world) is what has limited me but not anymore.

Tysm!

Hey everyone,

I am not a Christian, so apologies if this isn't appropriate, but I thought a spiritually connected community might offer the best guidance on how I should approach telling my parents that I'm a few weeks into PMO recovery (as opposed to channels like r/NoFap which might turn down such posts).

Call me pessimistic, but the way I see it, there are ramifications regardless of how KKR performs in the remaining half:

  1. Take the 'blue pill'/blissful ignorance: KKR wins a couple more games this season. In the best-case scenario, they miraculously pull of a repeat of the 2014/2021 seasons and reach the playoffs.
    1. Every game we win is yet another reason for the KKR management to retain the coaching staff and captain for the 2027 season. Perhaps even a total of five wins would be enough, as it could be written off as 'bad luck', given that KKR has been plagued with injuries. Are we ready to watch (potentially) another mediocre season since we wanted KKR to 'play for the badge/legacy'?
  2. Take the 'red pill'/painful truth: KKR win no more than a game or two in the remaining six. In this scenario, KKR is guaranteed to finish in the bottom three positions. Potentially, it could be KKR's worst finish in IPL history.
    1. This would ensure that (1) the KKR management is refreshed before the start of the next season and (2) a slight chance for young players like Tejasvi Dahiya to make a few appearances before the season ends. Are we ready to watch repeated failures in the remaining games and wait another whole year to see KKR back at their best?

It's simple, really. Life is not a bed of roses. It's up to you to choose which struggle to take on:

  1. Take the 'blue pill' and remain in blissful ignorance. Continue to PMO and engage in other dopamine-loading activities. In doing so, you struggle by living an average life and not living up to your potential and fulfilling your destiny on this planet.
  2. Take the 'red pill' and struggle through the potentially painful urges of wanting to relapse. Conquer your lust, and work towards the life of your dreams, and emerge victorious.

I wouldn't be surprised if a third of the posts on this subreddit are of people asking for motivation after ending a streak. To err is human, and the very fact that these Redditors identified their mistakes by making a post is a positive signal. However, I strongly believe some of these relapses could have been avoided if there were a strong reason behind the positive effects or if not doing it had clear consequences. Here is a short experiment anyone can conduct to build that motivation.

If you have relapsed recently after a streak (preferably longer than a week), ask yourself this question: "Was the nature of the material I watched less deviant (more vanilla) than usual?".

The answer to this question has an important consequence:

  • When you watch pornography and ejaculate, your body releases a deluge of dopamine.
    • Dopamine is a "reward" chemical that the brain releases when it thinks you have accomplished something important. PMO thus hinders your ability to chase dopamine from positive activities like work or exercise.
  • Doing this activity repeatedly decreases your sensitivity to the above, and forces you to find more aberrant content get larger amounts of dopamine.
  • If you answered "yes" to the above question, then it means that you brain has lowered its sensitivity to dopamine in that short period.

This provide confirmation to you that NoFap is working. The more you resist PMO, the more you will be forced to find sources of dopamine in the real world. This provides an opportunity to make activities like exercise a regular habit!

I don't have much to add here, but while playing through the Arkham games, I couldn't help noticing that the ones by Rocksteady felt more realistic and grittier compared to Arkham Origins which had a slightly more cartoony vibe. Was it a deliberate design choice to appeal to a broader audience?

Don't get me wrong, I loved the game. I was just wondering why it felt so different from the others.

I chanced upon this eye-opening YouTube video (I am baffled as to why this channel has only 4k subscribers). The speaker, who has been practicing semen retention for over 3 years, talks about how facing your lust head on is the best way to quit pornography and avoid relapsing.

He suggests that lust is not necessarily bad. It is merely an internal reflection of our self-perceived inadequacies stemming from our environment, social interactions etc. As an example, fantasizing over multiple sexual partners (videos with more than 2 people; sorry if too explicit) is a perceived lack of abundance.

He implores the listeners to list out what uniquely characterizes their lust and dig into the root cause. This is how he humanized his lust as self-imposed limitations and beat his addiction by making positive improvements in those areas.

A TL;DR (my understanding) for anyone who doesn't want to watch the video:

  1. Lust is not inherently bad. It is manifestation of what areas/traits we think we lack and thus, seek externally in the form of pornographic material.
  2. One cannot quit PMO in the long-run by repressing lust. It is, after all, a veiled raw emotion which cannot be bottled up for long. This is what likely leads to uncontrollable urges and causes people to relapse even after long streaks.
  3. One should instead identify the underlying cause (perceived lack of XYZ) and tackle it one of in two ways:
    1. Draw inspiration from other facets of your life where XYZ is present to prove to yourself that XYZ can be present everywhere in your life if you take action.
    2. Even if there is no instance of XYZ, develop a mindset where you feel adequate in XYZ well before the outcomes materialize. What this means is to feel like a winner well before the objectives needed to become one are met.
  4. Finally, and most importantly, take the right measures on a daily basis to work towards the goals that will alleviate your self-inflicted issues.
  5. If you profess a religion, the speaker also suggests praying for divine intervention and inviting God to fill those 'gaps'.

I must note that the speaker made one somewhat stereotypical statement towards the end, which I do not condone. The rest of the material was simply too good to not make a post about.

Sorry for the long post!
