Whistling noise while hearing up.

I have had my Linea Mini for about 2 years now. Just this week it has started to make a whistling noise while heating up. It sounds a bit like a kettle boiling, though more intermittent and not as loud. It usually happens a few minutes after I turn it on. It comes and goes, and once everything reaches temperature I don’t hear it anymore.

Everything seems to perform normally and I haven’t seen any leaks. My pressure gauges look normal too.

Should I be concerned?

My dad wants to buy a camera for some personal photography. He is by no means a photographer and wants something that is as easy to use as a phone (which I take to mean good autofocus and fully automatic functioning) but takes better photos (so at least a 1” sensor I think). He has trouble using the touch controls on his phone and thinks the tactile buttons on a camera would be easier.

I know the world of “proper” cameras a lot better than compact point-and-shoots. What should I be looking at for him?

Budget: it doesn’t matter, let’s say sub $2,000 to rule out a Leica or something.

Country: USA

Condition: New

Type of Camera: point and shoot

Intended use: Photography

End use: Social media, small prints

If photography: what style: cars, street

What features do you absolutely need: good jpegs, autofocus, and a good fully auto shooting mode

What features would be nice to have: a zoom lens. I might be able to talk him into a fixed prime but I bet he would want a zoom if he can get one.

Portability: pocketable or relatively small

Cameras you're considering: none so far

Cameras you already have: I have an x100vi and think that’s too complicated for him.

I am moving to a new house and am going to mount my LG C1 77” for the first time. I have heard generally good things about the mounts at Costco, but there seem to be 2 very similar models with a bit of a price difference: The SLF428 for $120 and the https://www.costco.com/p/-/sanus-home-42-86-full-motion-tv-mount/4000218365?langId=-1. I can’t see anything on the specs that make the more expensive one seem better: both are full-range and should accommodate my TV. Can someone help me figure this out?

I am moving into a “new” house soon and could use some advice about equipment because it has been a few years since I needed to think about networking.

The house is quite old. It is about 2600 sq ft and is 3 stories (ground, upstairs, basement). It looks like the former owners had their router in the basement. There are no Ethernet jacks (no phone jacks either which is weird for this age of house). There is a coax jack near the router and one upstairs, but sadly nothing on the ground floor). My wife is going to put her home office in a bedroom in the basement that is too far to connect to the router. She is on Teams calls all day so she needs a very stable connection. Most of our entertainment will go on the ground floor, which is less than ideal since I can’t hard-line my PS5 Pro.

I’m lucky that GFiber services the area. I have their included mesh routers right now in my smaller house but fear they won’t be enough for the new house. I could go higher, but I’ll probably just get the 1Gbps plan because more than that feels like overkill for us. That plan has worked fine in my existing house.

My tentative idea is to put a mesh router near the coax ports in the basement and upstairs and connect them via MoCa for wireless backhaul. I’ll just have to hope that the ground floor will get enough coverage between them.

Questions:

- is there a better way to do this? Re-wiring the house for Ethernet might be possible down the road but not in the short term.

- I know how MoCa works at a general level, but what equipment is best for that right now?

- I do have a few WiFi 7 devices. What is currently the best WiFi 7 mesh setup that is strong enough to cover the ground floor and stable enough that my wife won’t drop teams calls!
