Why are teachers in india so violent.

I was at school the other day and for some my class's PT sir came in and started scolding students.

It was a free period so i was doing my work in the corner of the class, until i noticed him coming up to me and he slapped me very tightly saying

'Tumhare jaise bachon ko to admission bhi ni milna chaiye'

And i am like

'Bro what, what did i do?'.

I have also noticee many of my teachers threatening students to either break their hands or come to their house etc etc.

Is there a reason for this?
