Spent 6 weeks interviewing just for the company to remove the role
I’ve been actively looking for a full-time job relevant to my field for about 2 years now while working casually, and just when I thought I finally had some hope, I got taken for a ride.
I went through 3 rounds of interviews over about 6 weeks for a junior role. I was told I did really well, and that the senior producers liked me. Then I got the call saying the role was being put on hold and they were suspending new hires due to overhead cost issues, partly because their clients, Audi and Volkswagen, apparently aren’t releasing enough cars this year (something among those lines).
They directly told me the issue wasn’t me, and that no one was hired for the role. Is that the whole truth? Do companies usually say this when they’ve chosen someone else, or am I just shit out of luck?
