Does anyone know what was filming at Mt. Sac a couple months ago?

For context, Mt. Sac is a pretty well-developed suburban community college around 25-30 miles east of DTLA.

I drove past it around February or possibly early March and I saw there were some of those yellow signs for crew parking and whatnot and a parked trailer that said Quixote Studios on the side. I was curious what this production was cause I really wanted to see Mt Sac as the setting of a show or movie.

AITA for trying to network with a celebrity?

Some time ago my friend and I were at an event that had a star from a popular sitcom. They were featured at a speaker panel. Since we have similar interests I decided to check it out, and I asked them a question during the Q&A session. I hoped to chat with them further after the talk, but I couldn't afford to buy a book just to go to the signing. I was hanging around in that area when I see them walking along with a friend from the stage to the signing area by themselves.

I approach them and ask if it's okay if I could ask a few questions quickly, and they say yeah. I introduce myself to their friend (who I later found out is another somewhat famous actor) before starting. I introduce myself again and tell them that I'm also an actor and that I really liked their answer to my question. I then ask if it would be possible to get their professional contact info or email to ask further questions.

They respond saying that it's all managed by their agency or whatever and that they don't really have an email or anything like that.

I ask if there's any like type of contact info that they personally respond on, and they say no because there's weirdos and stuff.

I say that I just really like networking and they say "Yeah I get that" but kinda waffle on and then say that I can DM their main IG account and the handlers will contact them if there's any questions or anything. So then I just kinda walked away.

When I told my friend about it later she said it wasn't a good thing to do and I should absolutely not have done that, and she still doesn't let it go or refrain from mentioning it when we're at places with public speakers or celebs. AITA?

Anybody know what was filming in Galen Center near USC today?

They were filming something inside the court I think but it didn't seem like there were any background for the most part. Somebody said it was a commercial of some sort but didn't say much more than that. I don't know if that's true considering how "commercial" is usually used as a cover

Today I met the most jarring family that looked like they'd travelled from a completely different time and place.

I live in SoCal and I was at my local Costco when I saw a family that left me just staring for a few seconds. This family legitimately looked like they'd hopped over from some 1920s agrarian Eastern European village.

They all had brilliant blue eyes and pale skin. The dad had a large brown beard and was wearing this dark gray corduroy tunic with a rope tied around it on his waist, kind of like in those medieval peasant costumes. His three young sons all wore plaid button-down shirts. His daughter wore a traditional floral gown, and her mousy light brown hair was covered by a babushka-style headscarf.

I was incredibly curious so I knew I had to talk to them. When I crossed them at one point I said "Excuse me" to the dad, expecting to get a gruff response in a thick accent. Instead, he responded "Oh sorry" in a perfect American accent, moving his cart.

I clarified that I wanted to ask him what language they were speaking, and he told me it was Russian. I asked him whether his kids spoke English and he said the older ones kinda did but they were all still learning. I asked him if they'd come to America recently but he said that his great-grandparents were actually the ones who came here. However, his wife was gonna be moving from Russia to here soon. I commented that I thought he had a perfect American accent and he said he still sort of has an accent, and has an American accent while speaking Russian according to his wife. I remarked on how their clothing was so distinct, and he laughed saying that it was basically Russian peasant clothing.

Before parting ways I asked him his name (super American name) and if he had LinkedIn and he said no.

I don't know what was more jarring, their look, or the fact that his family's apparently been in America for generations. I wonder if there is some type of Russian ultra-traditional sect or something.

At the LA Times Book Festival in the celebrity speaker sessions, is there any way to get a chance to talk to them one-on-one?

Like do they have a time where you can talk to them after the event or is there any way to chat with them as they leave or even just ask them questions during an audience Q&A? I wanted to talk with one of the actors who'll be speaking.
