For the past month and a half, I’ve been seeing a girl. We’re not officially together, but we’re “exclusive.” For anyone who doesn’t know what that means, basically we’re not in a relationship, but we spend a lot of time together, text a lot, have sex, and we’re only involved with each other, not with other people.

The reason we’re not officially together is because she wants some space and time for herself. She was in a relationship for 2 years with a guy who controlled everything she did. She couldn’t go to clubs, go on vacations with her girlfriends, etc. So now she’s looking for some peace and freedom.

In general, I’m not the kind of guy who forbids things, nor do I think it’s normal to control everything. My opinion is that if she has respect for me, then no matter where she goes or who she’s with, she won’t do something that would ruin what we have.

Yesterday she went to a club with a few girlfriends and two guy friends. I know that one of those two guys wants something with her, and it really bothers me that she still keeps seeing him. She constantly tells me she doesn’t want anything with him and that I don’t have to worry.

One of my friends was there too, and he sent me a picture of her with that guy while he had his arm around her. He said nothing more than that happened, but honestly even that was enough for me to feel very disrespected and, in a way, betrayed.

She knows how much I care about her, and I don’t try to hide it at all. I buy her flowers regularly, cook for her when needed, and give her emotional support whenever she needs it. Right now, I’m even preparing a bigger gift for her, but after what happened yesterday, I’m honestly thinking about just throwing it all away and telling her to come pick up her things.

Generally, I don’t know how to handle situations like this, and I’m also really bad with words and expressing how I feel. It’s much easier for me to express my emotions and say what I think through text messages, but I’m aware that this isn’t a situation that should be solved that way.
