What are your IYSE 6501 thoughts?

I'd like to avoid classes like it in the future. Just finished the class and got an A. Everyone on this sub said it was a great class in the early thread and I felt it would not be. My feelings were right.

Peer grading with chatGPT, grades not being distributed for the effort, meh course design. The only positive was the lectures. The course has not been updated in 5 years it seems based on lectures. A couple of the TAs were just straight up pissy.

I enjoyed 6040 way more. Definitely harder class but better designed in my opinion.

Does anyone else feel the same?

Any Forester owners 2025-2026 have issues with the leather seats?

Considering the Forester hybrid. I read that the leather Subaru uses have issues with cracking and stuff. Have any of you run into that issue?

Is Singapore airlines worse than Qatar?

Flew on Singapore because Qatar was too risky due to the war. The flying experience in economy was noticeably worse in my opinion.

Qatar usually does 2 full meals + 2 tea times for flights from the US. Singapore only did two. The food was not great comparatively but whatever. The service was really weird to me. They'd serve all the specialty meals + run a drinks cart before any of the others got served. Then they would immediately come and pickup the trash. I was shocked not even 20 mins to eat. Both times I was like give me time.

They wouldn't enforce the window shades down for a long time so sleeping was difficult. Feel like the premium economy seats looks like Qatar economy to me.

Idk maybe I'm overthinking. Anyone else have experience on both?

I'm upgrading from a 2008 Honda Pilot. I can afford each one but I don't want to waste money. Technically every trim is an upgrade in features compared to my Honda but idk if I should get the premium, sport, limited or touring. How'd you decide on the trim?

I know this is first world problem but kinda want some support

So I drive a used 08 Honda Pilot getting 14 mpg (I know it's horrible). It's been reliable for about 10 years but has become a money pit recently with big ticket maintenance and some things going wrong. Right now there's leaks, AC not working well, some rusting, power window issues, etc... I'm not comfortable driving it long distances since I feel something might break down so I drive to and from work. I think it's time for a new car.

I've done a bunch of research and am now thinking of getting a 2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid (still deciding on trim).

I initially thought of a used car but used 3 year old SUVs like the CRV with like 30k miles on it near my area is still around $25k+. Put in $8k more and I'm in new car territory so I decided a new car would be best. If the same CRV was like 20k it would make more sense to me but the used car market seems insane.

So I have around 170k cash sitting around in a HYSA (mostly for a house down payment and emergency). A new SUV my hard budget is 45k. I'll be able to save around another 20-30k by end of the year after retirement maxing. I earn 150k+ per year with around 45k expenses (50-60k taxes as well being paid). I watch a lot of financial advice YouTube and people like Dave Ramsey say it's probably not smart idea without like a million dollar net worth but I'm not sure if the sentiment has changed with the used car market these days.

What do you think is the smartest choice these days for someone like me?

(I don't want a sedan for my purposes and would prefer a compact/midsize SUV btw).

So I went to 2 Subaru dealerships to try out the Forester Hybrid. First one guy was pretty good just normal customer service. Can't complain. I went to second dealer because it's also a big one, I wanted to try out the car again to be sure, and my coworkers recommended them because they were truly local and not a nationwide one.

The sales guy kept calling me bro (which is fine) and test drive went fine. But a few things just bothered me and isn't sitting right. Idk if I'm overthinking since it's just the car I need.

  1. Because I'm traveling for a few weeks I said I'd be back in roughly a month to buy when he asked when I was thinking of getting it (obviously didn't want to reveal I was super interested). The first dealership did not care and was still cordial and went through the motions because apparently they don't work on commission (never knew that). This guy I could just feel the body language change and did not seem like he wanted to go on the test drive. He was talking my ear off and suddenly just spoke when I asked questions (which again was fine).

  2. He was continuously spitting everywhere including around the car when we were outside. Super gross and IDK how you behave like that around a customer.

  3. I asked him for a follow-up on a couple of trims specifically on a couple they had on their lot just to figure specs that they have beyond website stuff and they did not follow-up. They did not even ask for my email (it's not on their file).

Seems my city's reviews and co-workers recommend the second dealership where I had a bad experience more than the other one.

I definitely think I'd get the Forester and I think I want to go to the second dealership since their numbers seem a bit better. Is there a way to ask the person on the phone for another sales guy without impacting the guy I had an experience with?

Did a whole bunch of research narrowed down to few cars and now thinking of getting the Forester Hybrid in a bit. Haven't decided on the trim but likely will go with limited or premium. What was your trim level and OTD Price?

I know it varies by place and demand etc... but just want to get an idea.

Why'd you guys who recently bought a CRV hybrid go with that over the Forester Hybrid? (Other than mileage that is a non factor to me since I drive a 15 mpg 2008 Honda Pilot).

I seriously liked the Forester hybrid (except the infotainment system) and seriously considering getting it. I'm stuck between both. Can I ask your reasons why you picked the Subaru over the Honda?

I'm leaning towards the Subaru because it's more features for the same money. My only concern is the transmission system compared to the Honda and the seats apparently tearing quickl
