helping child with healthier choices
im not a parent but i am a sibling and a prominent carer. i've got a 6yo soon to be 7 brother and he had his weight and height checked and he is overweight. ive been taking him on walks and playing football often and bringing in more healthier options for him to eat. in the mornings my dad takes him to school and ive been noticing for breakfast he's giving him a plate full of oreo cookies and maryland cookies almost everyday😭😭😭 i told him this is really unhealthy and this is the reason he feels so tired all the time at school. he said he doesnt have the time to make a proper breakfast since he works everyday morning till night and i suggested toast and just other normal quick breakfasts and he did for about 2 days and then went right back to cookies😭 i take care of him some days after school and on the weekends and holidays so i do focus on giving healthier options when im there. when im not there, EVERYDAY he gives him a burger and chicken nuggets (he works at a takeaway so its most convenient he says) i wouldnt mind making breakfast for him in the morning and to make dinner after school but ill be at college these times so im struggling to find a solution.
