I have naturally thick wavy hair. I am Asian and my hair used to be quite straight; however, as I got older and entered teenage years, my hair got really wavy to the point where it looked like I put curlers in everyday. I started straightening my hair and curling the ends with a thermal roller after I got some layers around December to January (25-26). I would use L’Oreal hair protectant spray and an old iron straightener that doesn't have a specific temperature.
My hair was fine for a while and I had no split ends until recently a couple months ago, I went to the desert for a week-long trip. Because it was for a certain program, I couldn't shower or take care of my hair at all, so my hair got so many split ends. I got a trim as soon as I got back around 2 months ago; however, the damage is still evident as I have tiny split ends that seem to be everywhere but not very everywhere. As of now, I only straighten my hair once a week and I use sock curls instead of a heated thermal roller of actual hair rollers. I also use the FINO hair mask 1x a week and use rosemary hair oil almost everyday.
I want to continue having straight hair and even potentially use a thermal roller again, so I want to get a Japanese straight perm so I don't have to keep straightening my hair. I know that this is risky considering the harsh chemicals that are used; however, I think that the damage will be a lot less compared to straightening my hair over time. Below are photos of my hair and some split ends. In my opinion, it really isn't that bad especially since my hair is naturally really thick and strong, but then again I don't know for sure. What would you advise ?
