Open bite folks: did you posture to get your teeth to touch?
My current bite is unstable and I posture a lot to get teeth to connect.
Let me know which type of open bite you have and how you posture your jaw in order to chew or close your mouth.

Started a few weeks ago and recently upped my dose to 50mg.
My mouth has been burning and particularly the roof of my mouth is sore and dry. Tongue is also not feeling great.
Anyone else have these symptoms or do I need to ask my doctor about vitamin deficiencies??
I used to love spotting smillax on hikes but now it has taken over and choking my azalea bushes.
I tried removing it but they are so tangled and getting the root out is difficult.
Any tips, tools, and methods to share without using herbicides?
I had an edge to edge bite and was told by one ortho I was class 3 (never knew this as I always had class 1 bite) with probably a functional shift.
Unfortunately, he used class 3 elastics and although my TMJ and pain was bad before braces it’s now horrific. Pulling the lower teeth back and protruding the front teeth has now made it hard to breathe and causing pain in my joint. I’m also still edge to edge and I think my top teeth are still retroclined. I cannot imagine living like this.
Has anyone been able to get around protrusion/ class 3 elastics for a mild class 3 case??
Some orthos have suggested letting it relapse but it was still bad before braces.
37F I chipped my lower incisor many years ago (early 20s). I asked for bonding but every dentist said it would pop off. Unfortunately, I had one dentist shave off from my top trap incisors and bottom four incisors and I feel like it caused me a lot of issues.
Anyway, I just finished braces (ortho is telling me to allow relapse…long story) but this tooth has a little point that I feel keeps colliding with my upper teeth. What are my options? Can I get bonding on the four bottom teeth to get that back to their original height or should I just smooth it out and call it a day?
Hey all,
My posture is completely messed up right now. My head tends to tilt backward/upwards leaving my SCM pretty slack. If I try to bring it back neutral, the SCM seems tight and my neck really straight. Shoulders are rounded forward, tight chest. I get pain between my shoulder blades, chest, and arms. This has also caused a lot of TMJ pain and my bite being off. More of a swayback posture.
Any tips or causes? I’m tired of my head tipping up.
I found a licensed massage therapist who does intra oral massage and other myofascial massage for TMJ.
Before I try it, I wanted to see if it helped anyone or made it worse??? She nentioned she even gets into the nose and ears????
Does this happen to anyone else? My teeth are hitting all over the place and it causes me so much anxiety when I eat.
Some teeth feel like they are hitting too soon while others aren’t hitting at all. I’m afraid I’m going to break my teeth or hurt my jaw.
I know weird question…but when at rest I’ve heard the general rule is lips gently together, teeth apart. Should your lips be touching your teeth at all, even lightly?
Thank you!
I have had really bad muscular TMJ for a few years and getting to the point where I might pull the trigger on Botox.
I would only want it in my masseters so hoping that would be enough.
Any have any experience to share?? Should I go ahead and do it???
Having a big flare up at the moment - mine is muscular (just did CBCT). Even so, the pain I get is extreme - masseters on fire, headache, face/sinus pain despite sinuses being good, tooth pain, nerve pain, general feeling of bite being off and instability. It’s crazy how bad the muscle spasms get.
I have noticed whenever I get a bad flare up, my face looks off. My smile looks weird and pained, my nose looks a little funny….I hate it. Things look asymmetrical despite every doctor telling me the joint itself is fine and it’s a muscular problem.
Anyone else with muscular TMJ get this extreme of symptoms??? It’s just crazy to me it can do this much…
Hello!
I was in braces for a year when treatment started going off the rails a bit.
A TMJ specialist and ortho agreed that my TMJ was too flared up and to debond. TMJ specialist believed that class 3 elastics were unnecessary and directed me to allow relapse.
Two other ortho said they put me more at a class 2 moreso currently and should allow relapse as well.
Everyone has assure me that everything will be fine as my teeth were not in bad shape before braces; however, I’m a bit worried…
Due to the elastics, it pushed my top teeth outward and my bottom teeth back a bit.
If I don’t retain them, will allowing relapse undo what the class 3 elastics did? Ortho and TMJ specialist are saying give it a few months but this is so uncomfortable.

Thinking of trying TMJ Botox as I’ve been having a hard time lately.
Which specialist would be best? I don’t really want to to go to a med spa as I’d like someone who has more medical knowledge of anatomy/nerves etc. But also, I’ve seen some people complain about jowls/ it not looking great while others seem to have a great slimming/feminine looking jaw afterwards. Is there a happy medium for a specialist that takes both into account?
My TMJ specialist is facial pain doc so will do it fine but I’m not sure if he will take aesthetics into consideration as well.
Does this happen to anyone? Some days it feels like my front teeth are protruding or an overbite, other times it feels like the front teeth are tipping backwards and edge to edge. Molars feel too high on one side. Then too hide on the other another day.
Saw some orthos and some say I’m an overbite, others an underbite. It’s obviously dependent on how I’m holding my jaw…sometimes I hit it forward and other times I pull it back or to the side to get comfortable.
It’s freaking me out and I have no idea how to hold my jaw.
Does this happen to anyone else??
