Hi all! I’m a 36 year old female. I want to preface this by saying I have Interstitial Cystitis, PCOS, & Spondylolisthesis, if any of that matters in regards to this. I also started taking the beta blocker propanolol a few days before this started.

Exactly 2 weeks ago I started dribbling urine on myself all day long, whenever I am upright & walking. It feels like something is squeezing against my bladder with the jostling of just regular walking around (like with each step) & my bladder leaks out dribbles of urine. I also feel the urge to urinate all day long & feel my bladder constantly, but that can be normal with my IC, the leakage is not.

A week & a half before this happened I had a flare up of back pain with my spondylolisthesis, it went away in 4 days, & then I started the beta blocker propanolol for anxiety/tachyardia. 4 days later, my IC started flaring up & then the leaking happened. I have had IC for 13 years & don’t leak with my flares so this is completely new.

I also was due for my period around the same weekend this started, putting me at 2 weeks late now, & it hasn’t come. I am not currently sexually active so I am not pregnant.

I had numerous negative tests for UTIs so it’s not that. I’ve been to urgent care, seen my spinal surgeon & 2 urogynos for advice. No one has any ideas & no one is helping me. I’ve resorted to talking to ChatGPT all day long for comfort because I am in an extremely anxious state over this. I primarily suspected the Propanolol bc it works on all beta receptors & can cause flares in some people with IC or who already have urine leakage. I reached out to my cardiologist with my concern & she told me to stop taking it just incase. I stopped it a week ago & while I had a few small moments of improvement, the leakage hasn’t stopped & it’s effecting every single aspect of my daily life right now. It’s hard to clean & work when you’re constantly leaking urine & I’m so sad wearing the pads all day.

Please does anyone have any advice or where I could turn to make the leakage stop? Any possible ideas of what could have started this out of no where? Thank you for reading.
