Is my cactus ok?

This little guy had a tiny bit of shriveling when it was given to me last year, which I thought was dehydration but its only been getting worse. The roots seem ok, and its still firm so no rot, no signs of pests that I can see ...

It sits on a window sill in full sun, gets watered when dry (every 5 to 6 weeks Id say).

With the beautiful spring/summer weather slowly approaching, I wanted to visit some Garden Centers. I currently love the Camadian Tire on Carling but would like to get to know others, especially if they're easily reachable by public transit since I don't have a car ♥️

(Pic of some of my indoor plants, just because)

The discoloration at the base is just corking, right? The spots up higher were already there when I bought it last year (I assumed that it was some physical damage but now doubting myself). It's not soft or smelly, no signs of pests.

I water it about every 6 to 8 weeks in winter, more in summer, its sitting in full sun all afternoon and evening (there's just no sun today lol) and potted in cactus soil mix and sand.

Any help is really appreciated ♥️

Hi! Ive been wanting to get one or two carnivorous plants and Ive been thinking of putting them in this kind of setup to keep them nice and hydrated. Has anyone here tried it? I grow a lot of cacti and that's taught me to be super weary of arrangements. (Would also love to see pics of your own setups 😊)

Thank you!
