Do you have any suggestions to beat out scalpers for the next line of RTX?

I am generally new to PC building but what I do know is that a 4090 shouldn't be a $4000 Canadian, used with 4 years of use. And this is really all I see approximately on secondary markets.

WIth that said, what are best practises/websites/companies you go to, to beat out scalpers.

Obviously something is shifting in this space, and the prices just are not acceptable for the average person.

Is there a company (i.e. Best Buy) where it was a straight forward experience to get a new line of GPUs?

In a toss up between Astral RTX 5080 vs a 4090 Gigabyte

Would much prefer the 4090, but for some reason something clicks in my brain where I'm unfamiliar with Gigabyte and their products. But quick searches tell me Gigabyte is extremely reputable.

Now do I go the virtual best of 5080, or go with a 4090 Gigabyte that that is around 500$ more which I can afford.

There is also a Surpim 4090 (Liquid X) though it's more expensive than everything but from my understanding this may be a good bargain price for the quality.

So really it's Astral 5080 vs Gigabyte 4090 (cheaper option / Suprim 4090 more expensive but i can afford it.

I am so indecisive I just want someone to tell me "Do this". I've measured all the benefits, but I just don't know what to do. Would appreciate some guidance.

CURRENT PRICES IM WORKING WITH:

RTX 5080 Astral - $2100 CAD

Gigabyte 4090 - $2950 CAD

Suprim 4090 Liquid - $3500 CAD

All reputable sellers, tons of reviews, have given me a ton of detail, happy to test in person

I am asking because, there are many sellers claiming their GPUs are brand new, yet the box is open...and it is not in an anti-static bag.

Though there still is a thin plastic layer around the GPU, so maybe it is brand new? A friend cautioned me that all GPUs are enclosed in the anti-static wrap when the box is opened

This is my second playthrough. During my first when the game came out I used summons and found the game was underwhelming and easy-ish.

Just beat.....*SPOILERS*

King of Puppets and it was extremely challenging. This is the closest to Sekiro the game has ever felt. I feel it is a diservice to the game not playing it this way. Though some of the minor clunkiness of the deflecting/animations is more clear now I think when all the aggression is taken away from a NPC summon.

I relied on summons to aggro the bosses, but now it's all me. Still, this feels like the actual way to play this. Every single boss is a study really, similar to Sekiro which makes it all that more rewarding when you win.

Rarely do games make me lock in and focus this much. On my way to the DLC for the first time, wish me luck..

I do consuming video editing and really just want to run every game at max at this point of my life.

So I'm tempted to buy the best variation of the 5080 whatever it is. Google and around the web mention that the DLSS upscailing amonst other things makes the 5080 a strong choice even if its 10-20% worse in overall performance.

With that said, should I continue my tireless journey trying to hunt a reasonably priced 4090, or is the 5080 a reasonable thing to consider for the next 5-10 years (I don't plan or care to change either of these for a while) unless the 5090 drops by 80% eventually.

Will getting the 5080 benefit me for the future of tech/gaming enough that even though it is less powerful generally, it still will benefit me mid-long term?

So marketplaces are riddled with scammers and I can't seem to find a reasonable/normal human being selling the 4090. I do consuming video editing and really just want to run every game at max at this point of my life.

The sketchiness of humanity is at all time high for marketplace transactions and I am consistently spooked with the 4090 sellers.
