Jeffrey's problem is NOT that he's a nerd

Disclaimer: This is towards a small percentage of the fandom. Most people already agree with this take to begin with.

Some people in the fandom like to argue that Jeffrey haters only hate to see an actual nerd. Jeffrey is NOT hated for his nerdy kind. In game as well as in the fandom and the game tells us that.

In the sex rehabilitation program route he mentions that he got sent there for jerking off in the gaming club and in the route in which Nicole tries to get into remedial class he says that the school has a manga club. There are canonacally other kids at school who share Jeffrey's interests. Yet he still doesn't have friends.

"But Nicole and everyone else bullies him for liking Manga." Nicole, Jecka and Emily are bullies that are mean towards anyone. Yeah, they might bully him for thinking that playing video games makes you an unfuckable loser but the other hundred of students at the school that just don't happen to have sprites are unlikely to have the same mindset.

Jeffrey is disliked for jerking off in his club meetings, telling everyone he just met about his kinks and generally not showing any interest in others. He never asks about other's favorite shows or hobbies. He just talks about anime and himself in hope that they will eat him up and put him on a pedestal for being so wise and misunderstood.

And honestly, that's what makes him one of the best written characters in my opinion because his mindset is so realistic. Two things can be true at once: Bullying sucks and is often times undeserved but you also can be to blame for how other people view you. What Nicole does to him is cruel Bit he could easily be friends with a person from the manga club if he just behaved normal. (He said himself that he doesn't read popular mangas but hentai. Everyone else in that club probably wants to talk about Attack on Titan and visual novels and Jeffrey just comes in and explains how cool incest mangas are and that RapeLay is the best game ever created.) I met a handful of people that are just straight up disgusting or cruel and then think that everyone hates them for being goth, watching anime or being gay. An ex friend of mine was like that. I dress alternatively sometimes, read some manga myself and am bi. At one point the reason why people keep leaving you is because your attitude sucks.

The MH community has an overconsumption problem

The internet has ruined collecting. There's such a fine line between overconsumption and collecting and now it's basically invisible. Every single mediocre Draculaura dolls needs to be bought and you can't dare to pass on a Skullector. It's okay to not get a doll and it's not okay to buy of scalpers. People will complain about how they payed 100$ for an ugly doll and it's frustrating because absolutely nobody forced you to do that. Most Monster High influencers are people that have every single doll at least twice so you feel like such a fake fan if you only happen to have a few. Especially when they're not in perfect condition because you had them since you were 12 and played with them.

There's also so much FOMO with the Skullectors because Mattel rarely restocks and in the worst case there's no limit how many you can buy so you need to be fast as fuck to get your hands on them and Mattel seems to have noticed that we're desperate for more dolls because at this point they're releasing the most ugly dolls to the most insane prices and they still sell out.

What I'm trying to say is: Consider if you actually want a doll before you buy it or if you feel forced to buy it because it's Monster High. And don't forget that doll influencers earn money by spending money on dolls. A person with a 9/5 can't afford to buy as much as they do. And collecting takes time. It will be way more satisfying to look at a big collection and think about how you got one doll gifted, another one from a thrift store and another one as a reward for a hard month and this hobby accompanied you throughout many, many years than looking at a huge collection and thinking: "I bought all these dolls within two weeks so I could post them on Instagram."

Relationships feel so transactional. Like one of the main reasons why I don't want people to remember my birthday (aside from wanting a reason to cut them off) is because if they congratulate me and get me presents I have to do the same thing for them or else I'll look like an asshole. And honestly, I just don't care about other people enough for that. I like the idea of a day that's all about me but having to accept that everyone else has that day too is annoying. I don't want to stress everyday about thinking who's birthday today could be, I don't like spending money on someone else especially when they are humble and say that they don't want anything special, like bitch just give me wish and I really hate going to birthday parties where you have to do whatever the birthday child wants and you're forced to consume 1000 calories because they make a three layered chocolate cake with pralines on top or some shit. And it feels that way with almost everything. Relationships are so high maintenance and it's tiring.

I told her I might have BPD and she said that would contradict my autism. How? You studied psychology! Don't tell me you seriously believe that autistic people can't be obsessed with other people because we're all savant loners. I told her that autism and BPD have a high commorbidity actually and then I had to write information with sources down because she didn't bother to educate herself. I'm genuinely thinking about switching my psychologist because she only thinks in stereotypes and generally never seems to focus on anything I say. I just hope I'll get a diagnosis soon. Something is definitely wrong with me.

Like if Headmaster Grimm found out about Apple and Darling how would he react? I mean he definitely would be fuming because it's against the destiny thing but would he be fine with it if Darling wasn't a rebel or would he think that same sex relationships are inherently against the destinies? Most fairytales are from times where homophobia was the norm. Every story is about a woman and a man falling in love. Not only that but they're also very heteronormative. A maiden gets put under a spell and the only thing that can free her is true love's kiss which is ALWAYS romantic and it's expected that she marries her savior because their obviously supposed to be together and blablabla. It's never possible for a brother to free his sister because the only thing that matters in life and is therefore strong enough to break a curse is the romantic attraction between a man and a woman. Now obviously fairytales are old so we can't really cancel them over this but times changed and Headmaster Grimm refuses to accept that and instead pushes old ideas onto the population of a country. There's no room for feminism or queer rights. The fact that Darling is destined to be a damsel in distress just because she's a woman is a huge indicator that the system is at least a little bigoted.

I'm kinda mad that this wasn't more touched upon. Apple being a closeted lesbian would have given her more reasons to question the destiny conflict and made her more complex but it was 2010 so obviously we couldn't get a well fleshed out LGBTQ story.

I'm writing a character with NPD and I would like some advice because I can't handle all these Facebook posts saying that narcissists are sent by the devil and jerk Off to you crying and stuff. I need some actual information on that topic. I have a few narcissistic traits (I think) but not enough as if I could use them to write a narcissistic character. I'm just going to talk about this OC and you guys can ask questions or recommend what you would change etc...

He's 15-17 years old in the story so the NPD wouldn't have fully settled in. He's still able to feel remorse or show empathy from time to time and generally would have more of a mild form.

He's more of a grandiose narcissist than a covert one. Or at least starts off as covert with strangers and becomes more open when he knows people better.

The story has a message of "Not everyone can be saved" and "taking responsibility". Some characters will not get a happy ending or develop and others will. For this character I want him to get therapy and actually recover.

He has a really bad home life. His mother is an untreated histrionic and his father and untreated schizoid. They don't believe in therapy. His mother is kinda emotionally incestuous basically using him as a replacement for his emotionally absent father, threatening to kill herself when her son pisses her off etc...

He's street smart but does bad in school. Very anti authorial (he's punk) and is convinced that everyone else is just doing better because they're cheating (they're not) despite him cheating too from time to time and still doing mediocre. He's manipulative, giving his best friend the feeling that nobody else likes him. Spends a huge amount of time fantasizing about fame and overestimates his own abilities. Gets really sore when outdone or losing. Has suicidal tendencies he plays down as a joke. Feels weirdly empty and uses drugs and self harm to cope. He genuinely doesn't understand when he's doing something wrong and thinks that everyone just leaves him wich makes him bitter. (Or at the very least he thinks he's right to manipulate them because it's for the best) He sees admiration as a sign of friendship but doesn't understand that spending time together, giving gifts etc ... are also signs of affection.

His development arc would also touch on some struggles he'd face with recovery. Like not knowing whether he's being confident in a healthy way or falling back into arrogance.

If you have any more questions just ask so I can answer them and get recommendations for writing.

I absolutely adore this but I really hope that this something they will do for every character. One or two every year maybe? If they only do it with Drac to milk her once again and then just completely discard that concept after I'll be FUMING! I need this with Spectra and Ghoulia.

I don't like her. I know about her trauma. I think she's a complex character. I understand why other people like her. I still despise her.

I think my main issue with her is that Ever After High never really made the destiny conflict a conflict. Apparently Raven's decision caused a few fairies to die but it's never addressed in the show or any movie and we don't know these fairies so why would we as the viewer care? Also apparently the reason why Faybelle doesn't like Raven is because the evil queen put sleeping beauty asleep. So...the 13th fairy didn't fulfill her destiny and nothing happened? We also know that Red riding hood and the bad wolf have an affair which again goes against the destiny thing. The franchise just never shows us anything bad happen when people don't choose their destiny so the destiny conflict always seemed classist to me and not like an actual conflict.

To be fair: Raven and Apple didn't know about any of that at first. AT FIRST. Raven did basically endanger everyone for kinda selfish reasons but the moment she didn't disappear the situation was kinda black and white imo.

Also Apple is just "worried about her friends" but she only cried for like one afternoon when she found out about Ashlynn and Hunter and then got over it. She always seems to be fine with people choosing to be a rebel UNLESS it somehow hinders her happily ever after.

She's never like: "Someone else could poison me" or "Raven could poison me but she won't get consequences because I want her to", she actively wants Raven to ruin her life for her because if she doesn't there's a chance that she...what exactly? She's still gonna become a queen and everything. She only wants her destiny to come real because she almost drowned as a child and has been scared of unpredictability ever since. Which is sad but her trauma doesn't make up for the ones that a lot of people have to go through because of her destinies. Which is my next nickpick: A lot of students have terrible destinies. Apple paints Raven as a selfish person and never once considers that they live in a classist society and non princesses actually could suffer from that.

If the royals weren't so privileged I might actually care but Ashlynn is a princess from birth. She will lose her mom but that's it. She's still going to be rich and pretty. And Apple doesn't even lose her mom unlike in the original fairytale. Like what does her happily ever after actually change about her life? She's essentially just a billionaire that keeps explaining why billionaires need to exit even through they don't contribute anything to society.

At first this was a complex conflict but as the show went on it became more and more apparent that rebelling isn't doing any harm and I always (even as a child) struggled to understand how "Are you a royal or a rebel" was even a valid question. The royals are always represented as ignorant snobs and the show never gives us a reason to question the rebels.

So yeah, I think that Apple is a complex character but not complex enough to the point I could ever like her. I think she's overhated but I can't defend her because she never learns and is overall just so tone deaf. Lmao. Sorry Apple lovers. Nothing against you personally.

I screwed up my Spectra and need to repaint her entire face. I'm new into doll restyling. Can I use alcohol markers? What pencils should I generally use to repaint dolls and should I fixate the paint somehow? If yes, can I use hairspray. Please just help me, I'm a bit desperate. Lol.
